Yesterday was the final tour for Lt. Scott Goolsby, who served our city faithfully for 37 years. In our history, only Chief James Clark (1912-1949) served longer! Scott loved the job & we’re sad to see him go. Join us in wishing Scott a happy and well-deserved retirement!
Hey Iowa City - hundreds of life-saving fire hydrants in our city are buried. Please help your Iowa City Fire Department by clearing your hydrant - so we can work fast when you need us!
"How does it feel?" "Excellent."
Positive feelings from a UIHC health care worker upon receiving the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine -- and the first in the state of Iowa.
Gregg Kruse has been a loyal fire buff and faithful friend to the ICFD for more than 60 years. He has photographed hundreds of fires and emergencies, eaten more smoke than the rest of us put together, and recorded important milestones in the careers of our members.(1/3)
He has maintained historical folios of pictures and articles, published albums, and attended many of our functions. Gregg Kruse has been there for the ICFD through thick and thin. Today, IAFF L610 made Gregg as honorary member.
Annual auto extrication training at Ace Auto Recyclers. A huge thank you to Joel McCaw for providing #ICFD the location and resources for us to keep our extrication skills sharp. #autoextrication#autorecyclers
We train every day so that we can be prepared to save a life. You can prepare yourself to save lives in a minute and without breaking a sweat: simply change your smoke alarm batteries this weekend!

Today we were made aware of many people enjoying the warm temps - by playing on the ice at Terry Trueblood. Area ice is VERY weak in spots, and absolutely should be avoided. If you want to meet us that badly, do it the safe way and just stop by one of our fire stations!
The most anticipated portion of the new Training Center is waiting for warmer weather. This new tower will give ICFD the ability to train with live fire on multiple levels, high angle and below grade rescue, ladder tower ops, high rise ops, & many more #firefacilities#firetower
This morning, members of the ICFD were proud to attend the Iowa City Human Rights Awards breakfast. The commission recognized former FF Matt Farrey for his tireless work as founder of both Fired Up About Reading and Community Autism Awareness Day. Congratulations Matt!
