75 participants from Disaster Management Offices, Ports & Harbors participated in Tsunami Warning and Response workshop organized by INCOIS. A Tabletop exercise was conducted and responses were listed and timed.

Indonesia formed a social media task team to promote IOWave18 activity in Indonesia. The task team consist of BMKG @InfoHumasBMKG (NTWC) and BNPB @BNPB_Indonesia (NDMO). Agreed communication strategy will use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to build iowave18 awareness.

INCOIS conducted a Tsunami SOP workshop in connection with upcoming IOWave18 Exercise. Around 80 participants from all coastal States/UTs, Navy, Coast Guard, NDRF, Army and Port & Harbors officers were attend the workshop.

INCOIS will supports villages meet 11 tsunami ready indicators. “These are the first steps being taken as part the Indian Ocean Tsunami Ready programme that was instituted under the aegis of UNESCO,” said Satish C. Shenoy, the Director of INCOIS.
