Argentina had won two World Cup (in 1978 and 1986) before Messi's debut, and had won about 14 Copa America titles. It took the national almost 40 years to win another trophy, fourty good years in 2022. Now despite all Messi's accomplishments since his debut, that is, 35 titles in 17 seasons, Messi also won his first major international title in 2021 which was the Copa America, taking 16 years into his career, and almost 17 years to add the World Cup trophy to his collection.

Now during his years of Int'l trophy drought he was heavily criticized even by Argentines, especially after missing the crucial PK in 2016.

Messi lost four international finals back to back, almost quit the team, and had to struggle to win his first Copa America and World Cup, but all of a sudden it was rigged for him? Be serious.

A lot of things can be true at the same time. Argentina got away with a key decision, but conceding 3 goals in the space of 13 minutes is criminal. Especially in a game you were comfortable in for 80 percent of the duration. Egypt can cry all week, but they and the other African teams need to get better at managing games and emotions.

Ademola Lookman was born in Wandsworth, in the United Kingdom, and lived his entire life in Europe. Yet, when he went up the stage to receive his 2024 African Footballer of the Year Award, he was dressed in traditional Lukumi Yoruba clothes and started his speech in flawless Lukumi Yoruba. Meanwhile, there are millions of people born and raised in Nigeria who can't speak their own native language and mock others when they do not speak a borrowed tongue, like English, well.

This vindicates what I have famously written about the Lukumi culture. It is the most durable and resilient tradition in Africa.

Whereas most other cultures gradually die out when exported to Europe, America and the world, the Lukumi culture thrives and influences its host culture. In places like South America, it even dominates them.

Before today, music of Lukumi Yoruba origin, also known as Afrobeats, has been and still is the hottest musical genre on the planet bat none. After today, a footballer of Lukumi Yoruba origin is now the hottest footballer on Earth.

Dear Citizens of South Africa,

Thank you for briefly lending me your ears. What many of you, our South African brothers and sisters, who are today railing about Nigerian immigrants, fail to appreciate is that your first elected President, Nelson Mandela, was once an immigrant and political asylee in Nigeria, where he lived in the home of Nigeria's first Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi in Lagos in the early sixties.

Additionally, your second elected President, Thabo Mbeki, was also a political asylee living in Nigeria, whom the Olusegun Obasanjo military government of Nigeria financially supported between 1976 and 1978. Please fact-check me.

Nigeria was under considerable pressure from Western governments not to accommodate and support the African National Congress, but we did, and paid a price for it. A very steep price.

And between 1960 and 1999, more than two thousand South Africans schooled in Nigeria, on scholarship from the Nigerian government. I met some of them and have photographic and documentary evidence.

We understand that a few undesirable elements amongst us have brought the name of Nigeria into disrepute, and we are doing our best to address this in conjunction with the South African authorities.

These things are not as easy as you may think, because they involve ethnicity, and Nigeria's authorities have to be sensitive lest some sections of our society see actions to curtail these activities as anti their ethnic group.

Having said that, please appreciate that our shared history goes beyond English as a common language. We were there for your leaders in terms of asylum, finances, and diplomatic support when many countries of the world, including the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, were not for you.

Not in rhetoric. We put money, arms, and safe houses at their disposal. We did other things that are not prudent to mention in a public forum, such as this.

A former Nigerian Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo, was the Chairman of the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group, which negotiated the freedom of Nelson Mandela with the Apartheid government, beginning in 1986, and culminating in the release of Mr. Mandela on February 11, 1990. And Mr. Mandela paid a thank you visit to Nigeria on May 14th, 1990, aboard the Nigerian Presidential jet (see attached photograph)

One Nigerian businessman alone, Chief MKO Abiola, committed more than £500,000 of his personal funds to the anti-apartheid struggle in the seventies and eighties.

The claim that Nigeria spent $61 billion to secure your freedom is false. We spent a lot. But not that much.

Please bear with us. This current antagonism and hostility towards Nigerians is perhaps borne out of a lack of awareness and understanding of how far we have come together as a people.

We only know yesterday and today. Not tomorrow. Therefore, let us be measured in our rhetoric and actions, seeing as we are brothers and sisters borne from the womb of Mother Africa.

The beauty of Yoruba culture was again on display yesterday, Tuesday, May 19, 2024, when President Bola Tinubu bowed down to greet 93-year-old Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. Two things that the Yoruba respect. Age and authority. And because of that, God gives them a long life and the power of authority.

Please fact-check me: Southwest has the highest life expectancy in Nigeria and has wielded power as either Head of State, President, or Deputy more than any other ethnic group in Nigeria since 1960.

Are you aware, for instance, that until General Obasanjo took office on February 13, 1976, ALL of Nigeria's leaders had either been killed or violently overthrown? Tafawa-Balewa, Aguiyi-Ironsi, and Murtala Muhammed were killed, and Gowon was forcefully overthrown. Obasanjo was the first Nigerian leader to have a natural tenure.

Do you also realise that until Obasanjo returned, no other Nigerian leader had a natural tenure?

Shagari and Buhari were violently overthrown. Babangida was forced to step aside by nationwide violent protests. Shonekan was not really in charge. Abacha died in office. Abdulsalami was a caretaker for only nine months.

Until Obasanjo returned and stabilised the seat of power and, we have had twenty-five years of unbroken democracy. And that man, Obasanjo, has been involved in the making of all our Presidents since 1999, except Tinubu.

And last year, when he disgraced Oyo Obas on Friday, September 25, 2023, Obasanjo said they had to respect Governor Makinde because (he spoke in Yoruba) two things have sustained the Yoruba. Respect for age and authority.

I commend President Tinubu for his humility. And by this act of humility which shows the highest ethos of Omoluabi couture, I doubt God will allow anyone to remove him before 2027. And maybe beyond that!

A proud and arrogant people who believe in the power of money and aggressiveness, can hardly ever rise to power in Nigeria and elsewhere.

This is Mr. Monsuru Obe. He is the Chairman of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area in Lagos. Please fact-check me: His government has constructed four roads, two schools, and is in the process of constructing a third school, and has built and commissioned multiple health centres. Mr. Obe's administration has also provided free uniforms to primary school pupils in his LCDA.

Please note that Mr. Obe is NOT a Local Government Chairman. He is a Local Council Development Area Chairman, meaning his allocation is smaller than that of a constitutionally recognised Local Government Chairman. Yet, he has achieved this.

Now, my challenge to Peter Obi and his Obidients is this: Name one school that Peter Obi's government initiated, started, completed and commissioned in the eight years that he was Governor of Anambra, and I will pay you $10,000.

How can a Local Council Development Area Chairman's government build multiple schools, and a Governor did not construct even one, and then you say he is the best Presidential candidate you can offer Nigerians? Surely, Nigeria deserves better. Don't you think so?

Name and collect the money!

The Naira is now the world's best performing currency, bar none, according to global investment bank, Goldman Sachs.

In the Northwest, bandits are now being kidnapped themselves by our military and are being tried and imprisoned. (Buhari never sent any bandit to prison).

Every weekday is now a working day in the Southeast. Sit at home has turned to sit in the office!

Boko Haram is now reduced as a threat in the Northeast.

The coastal highway is becoming a reality, and the Abuja metro is now ready for commissioning.

Fuel importation has reduced by more than 50%.

The Dangote and Port Harcourt Refineries are crashing the price of diesel and by May, Premium Motor Spirit will follow.

The Federal Government has negotiated direct Lagos-London flights for Air Peace.

Our GDP is now growing at 3.4%

And passport shortages are now a thing of the past, as Nigerians now get their passports quickly and easily.

Say what you will about Tinubu, but you cannot deny that the President is gradually making us feel proud to be Nigerians again. If God spares my life, my party and I will challenge him in 2027. Until then, I will commend him when he does well. And he is doing well. One year of Tinubu has brought more progress to Nigeria than eight years of Buhari. Emi ni mo sobe!
