@elonmusk For X’s future profitability chances you need to also tear down @Support at X and start over. Worst UX I’ve ever had with any company period. Everything was automated and there are huge gaps in what “support supports doing” and with the documentation X provides to self service.

I will absolutely crowdsource you some ideas for the X algorithm. It can definitely be better. I’ll try sticking to the vision of X as being a free speech platform and public square.

1. Break the Echo Chambers with a "Serendipity Factor". The algorithm feels like it traps you in an echo chamber, amplifying what you like and limiting exposure to new topics or alternative views. Sprinkle in more posts from outside a user’s usual interests. For example, me being a tech nerd who engages with AI posts, doesn’t mean I don’t want to occasionally see a viral thread about composting. Throw me some curveballs every once in a while

2. Quality Over Quantity: Adjust the Weight Engagement or make it more human / smarter. Engagement metrics (likes, retweets, replies) drive visibility, but rage bait often wins over substance. A post with 100 angry replies might outrank one with 50 thoughtful ones. Give priority to longer, substantive and creative content that makes us smarter. Not short emotional outbursts or a flame war over politics.

3. Fight Misinformation Without Overreach
Would a credibility score be possible? To subtly boost posts from verified accounts or expert voices—like a scientist tweeting about climate data over a random 2 follower account on a conspiracy thread? Maybe a context flag feature? It would empower users with info, not censorship, and keeps X a trusted platform.

4. Maximize "Unregretted User-Seconds"
How can you further “not waste” our time? So when I’m engaged in your platform I get the most out of it and have a great experience every time. It’s what keeps people coming back and logged in longer. If I click a post then bounce back to scrolling in 2 seconds, it’s a dud. Promote stuff I linger on instead. Add a **"this was helpful" or "this was misleading"** button for direct input—like rating a tweet about rocket tech as "helpful" after learning something new. Same thing you see on Grok. This could fine tune the algorithm to prioritize value, not just clicks, aligning with your "unregretted time" goal.

5. Transparency + Control: Demystify the Feed
Users don’t know why they see what they see sometimes. Sounds like a feedback loop opportunity. Launch a feed insights feature and show me a breakdown like "this post appeared because you liked Cleveland Cavaliers stuff." Let me tweak it even. Show me less politics, and more comedy stuff.

Do some A/B testing with like 10% of the user base, send out some surveys and call it a day.
