@moneyacademyKE Assume we redeem 1 Trillion of Principal of 13 Trillion a year, and pay interest at 12% on that 13 Trillion, total debt servicing is about 2.6 Trillion. Effectively, 100% of tax collection in 24/25!. We are now in a debt trap. All taxes collected go to service debt!

@LinusKaikai If I had time, I would study effects of nomadic life on population. I hold the thesis that sedentary lifestyles lead to rapid population growth coupled with monogamy. Just a thought. Let academics in population studies explore the questions.

@LinusKaikai I come from Busia and I have Maasai relatives. All the way to Busia County was Maasai country! Wawawa. Effectively, half of Kenya was Maasai country in 1911!

@AmbokoJH Where is achievement of full employment as one of the 2 core mandates of CBK. CBK spends too much effort on FX and very little on achievement of full employment.

@AmbokoJH I beg Kenyans to focus on problems of this country. Our number one problem is formal employment. We can get to 300k jobs a year. One precondition, credit has to go to manufacturing and agribusiness, 800 billion a year. They don't get even 10% of this currently. CBK do something.

@AmbokoJH If we fix our crisis of formal employment, nearly all our economic challenges disappear. I just don't understand why the country doesn't want to commit to it 100%. All our problems will disappear. If we can create 300,000 new formal jobs a year. It is possible if all work to it.

@ehdande I estimate, Kenya should deploy 800 Billion of capital every year into manufacturing and agribusiness to create 300,000 jobs. Capital is scarce. Public sector has to yield space for this capital to go into these crucial areas.

@ehdande Formal employment income as a percentage of GDP has declined from a high of 15% to now below 10%! The country is informalising too rapidly! SMEs thrive in successful ecosystems. We need many large corporations to have thriving SMEs. 10 Safaricoms can support millions of SMEs!

@Kenyans To achieve that, Kenya has to start building 250 new factories every year. 250 new factories a year. So many problems will just sort themselves out.

@Kenyans The day Kenya declares formal jobs created as our main measure of performance and focus on it absolutely, is the day we start moving forward sustainably.

@Kenyans This same WB is the one funding our rapid informalization. Formal employment share of GDP has fallen from around 15% to below 10% now. They have watched us and clapped for us as we drifted into a no production economy! Very sad of this WB.

@Kenyans Now this country imports even tiles. In 2005, there were possibly 20 tile factories on Mombasa Road, employing 1000s of Kenyans. AND WB watched us implement policies that killed our jobs and exported them. Very sad! Wanyamaze as we fix ourselves.

@Kenyans They have watched the country deploy capital into very low multiplier sectors like real estate that don't create any high quality jobs for the young people. Manufacturing totally declined. And now, they come out? Very sad!

@Kenyans On this, I agree with you Mr Ndii. This will encourage a world class petrochemical industry downstream. And these are the kind of activities that create high quality jobs, expand the tax base and deepen knowledge creation in the country.
