Legal immigrant for 10+ years in the USA; #GCBacklog#H4EADdelays victim adding a voice to the movement against country of birth discrimination #EAGLEAct
#USCISMadeMeQuit my professional identity, crippled my finances, burdened me with anxiety & depression - all this during a pandemic while I was in bereavement, and excelling at work was my major source of healing #H4EADdelays are so much more than job losses (1/5)
@POTUS@VP@RepZoeLofgren
USCIS: What do we do people are bashing in social media for 80k wastage and our work efficiency?
CO : Let me release a new date by retrogression.
Backlogged: please process the visa for 2022 😢.
USCIS: Thank god CO, now we are safe till September 2022
The only person who deserves all the anger and frustration from #GCbacklog community today is rac!st .@SenatorDurbin
- Blocked #HR1044 for ~ 1 yr
- Did nothing as .@JudiciaryDems chair to hold .@USCIS accountable for #GCwastage
- Refuses to add provisions 60002-4 in recon bill
In recent memory, this is first of a kind poll focused on high skilled immigration. We are, usually, the step child even for things like immigration policy polling.
So, thank you @DataProgress
Next polling please - repeal of country caps in skills based immigration #HR3648
@PabloReports@AILANational And so finally, more immigration (more H1B visas) is super great & welcome by AILA, but resolving greencard backlog that restores the control back to the employee/individual is not.
Hence,
.@AILANational = pro-immigration, **NOT** pro-immigrants.

There are powerful forces working against us. They have deep pockets. But we have TRUTH on our side & that is the most powerful tool in advocacy! USE IT! Call @senatordurbin NOW at (202) 224-2152 & ask him to not exclude us from the Recon bill. Script here https://t.co/EhvBIYcgHa
I hope @SenAlexPadilla reads this and realizes that high skill green cards don't go to businesses. There is real human cost involved in this wait -

Just wanna point out that @SuzanneMonyak also had an excellent story on the topic earlier this week for @rollcall, icymi:

@USCISDirector Thanks to @USCIS I am now having to start my career over after suffering #H4EADdelays and employers don't seem too excited to hire legal immigrants like me - who regardless of their skills & experience are ultimately at the mercy of a biased and incompetent govt agency
@Superted386 @SenMikeLee In political science, big institutions move in leaps called punctuated equilibriums. Once momentum is built, incremental solution is to move to the new PE.
If you shift goalposts & make the new PE something else (like recapture), then institution considers the issue "solved".
@Superted386 @SenMikeLee Great question.
Because of how Congress works. Once an issue is even partially solved, it is considered done. They won't touch the issue again. So those with PD until 2014/15 might benefit the one time, and everyone else will stay backlogged forever.
FOREVER.
