Facts Underlying Current Isolated Cases of Power Challenges
Government launched a nationwide Transformer Replacement and Upgrade Programme that has been actively running since early April 2026. The first phase began on April 8 and involved the replacement and upgrade of 12 transformers across six primary substations in Adenta, La, Teshie-Nungua, Nmai-Dzor, Baatsonaa, and Lashibi, with capacity increased from 26 MVA to 39 MVA. These replacements mean communities households will be losing power temporarily so they can gain more reliable, higher-capacity power permanently. ECG is upgrading the Teshie-Nungua Primary Substation transformer from 20/26MVA to a higher capacity 30/39MVA unit, with works scheduled from April 27 to April 30, 2026. This work follows already completed upgrades at Nmai Dzorn and Lashibi substations. More than 100 transformers supplied by the Ministry have already been installed, with additional units being procured to ease pressure on overloaded areas. This is a government aggressively fixing things, not one neglecting it.
Happy birthday to this remarkable presidential staffer whose benevolence lights up the lives of party supporters everywhere.
