I had a productive discussion with Kurt Eby from The Weather Network. We spoke extensively about strengthening Canada’s public safety systems, protecting our media, and the importance of having these conversations as we build Canada Strong.

Celebrating the diversity of our community is one of the things that makes Canada such a special place to call home. Over the weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to join the Mississauga Kerala Association (MKA) for their Onam celebration. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together, celebrate Kerala’s rich culture and traditions, and enjoy some incredible performances from actors and dancers of all ages.

This weekend, my colleagues and I were proud to announce that the Government of Canada is investing $8.7 million to enhance the Culham Trail. Like many of you, I frequently visit the Riverwood Conservancy, but annual flood damage has left sections of the trail unsafe. The new federal investment will reconstruct nearly 4km of multi-use paths and bike lanes, and will be used to build a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge connecting the Port Credit Go station to the Mineola West neighbourhood. This investment will help to connect our community to nature, to transit, and, most importantly, to one another.

Team Iqra was out and about on the streets over the weekend, hearing from constituents about the state of our community, their concerns, and their solutions.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of knowing and supporting the phenomenal team at Ivan Franko Homes. Every year, we have been able to support them through the Canada summer job program. Today, I met with the 10 summer students and learned about their aspirations and plans for the future.

Following strong interest in the Erin Mills Women’s Council, we want to give even more women the opportunity to share their perspectives, ideas, and experiences as part of the Mississauga—Erin Mills community.

This week, I met with colleagues from across Ontario in Peterborough to discuss the future of our province, and our plans for when Parliament rises in the fall.

It was a pleasure to meet with everyone and have productive discussions about how we can work together to support Ontarians from all walks of life.

Creating a stronger, more resilient Canada happens when we work together at all levels of government to build the country we want to live in.

Over the weekend, I joined senior community members at Jame Masjid to celebrate our shared values and culture. Seniors have helped to build the communities that we call home, and their experiences and contributions continue to strengthen Canada. Joining events like this are an amazing way to recognize and celebrate the diverse heritage of our Canadian communities.

Our Canadian government is investing $570 million over the next 3 years through the Workforce Tariff Response to help workers in vulnerable industries.

Through this initiative, our government will provide reskilling and upskilling opportunities, while making changes to Employment Insurance (EI) to better support workers’ needs. Changes to EI will include:

1. Waiving the one-week EI waiting period

2. Suspending money paid on separation, allowing workers to collect severance and EI at the same time

3. Allowing up to 20 extra weeks of EI for long-tenured workers

The Workforce Tariff Response will build on the $8 billion our government is investing in Canada’s skilled trades workforce, supporting Canadian workers from recruitment and training to career development.

Today, we recognize the contributions of Canadians of Indian heritage to Canada. Celebrating our diverse backgrounds is part of what makes Canada so vibrant and inclusive.

Happy 79th Pakistan Independence Day to all Canadians of Pakistani heritage!

Today, we celebrate Pakistan’s history, culture, and heritage, while recognizing the many contributions of Canadians of Pakistani heritage who help make our communities and our country stronger.

As we celebrate, this is also a moment to reflect on the strong people-to-people ties that connect Canada and Pakistan.

Today my colleagues and I joined community members to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan. Together, we honoured the contributions of Canadians of Pakistani heritage in building Canada, and the role of Pakistanis across the world in humanitarian efforts. I’m proud to be a Canadian of Pakistani heritage. 🇵🇰🇨🇦

I had a productive week welcoming constituents from across Mississauga—Erin Mills at my office. My team and I are working hard to address your concerns. Hearing from constituents is one of the most important parts of my job, and it guides mywork at home and in Ottawa.

Thank you to our lovely community who attended our open house to share their concerns and solutions with me. I will continue to work for our community and use what I have learned to advocate for a stronger Mississauga—Erin Mills and a stronger Canada.
