Today, our community stands together in solemn respect as we welcome home Private First Class Christopher Leone Belcher — a son, a father, a soldier, and an American patriot.

Christopher answered the call to serve his country with honor, dedicating his life to something greater than himself. From Vero Beach to deployments overseas in Korea and Germany, he carried the values of duty, strength, and service wherever he went.

Though words can never ease the pain of this loss, we can ensure his sacrifice and his memory are never forgotten. Today, we honor not only a soldier in uniform, but a local father, a hero, who represented this community with pride.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

Two personnel were injured Thursday afternoon following an incident at the High Explosive Research and Development Facility at Eglin Air Force Base.

According to officials, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. on May 21. Both individuals were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not yet been released.

Emergency crews from Okaloosa County EMS, Eglin Air Force Base Emergency Medical Services, and the base’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded to the scene.

Officials stated that the damage appears to be confined to the High Explosive Research and Development Facility. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
