There are at least two aspects of the EU Migration Pact that concern me, particularly because Government TDs are blatantly ignoring them in their responses to citizens.
These major decisions appear to be up to a Council appointed “Solidarity Coordinator”.
#EUMigrationPact
@murphyt501 It’s nonsensical to suggest that McDonald was somehow on the fence about the pact, which is what Paddy is trying to do.
Her entire party voted against it and she described it as a “dangerous erosion of sovereignty” days before the vote.
Paddy is trying to twist the truth.
Paddy blocked me, Suzanne, most likely because he realised that the majority of Irish people are more intelligent than to fall for his lies, so I can’t reply to you directly.
Let’s keep the goalposts in one place. Vote pairing is not abstaining which was my initial point.
@paddymacc1 You seem to be conflating two things that are not the same.
Your tweet says she abstained. You are incorrect. Stop spreading misinformation.
Twitter is an odd place where people can blatantly lie and their followers seem to lap it up without an ounce of critical thinking.
McDonald did not abstain. Once again, a certain chunk of the Irish electorate can’t comprehend vote pairing.
@paddymacc1@Hubert40302227 Answer the question. Your tweet is blatantly incorrect and you appear to have no understanding of vote pairing.
Did Mary Lou McDonald abstain?
@paddymacc1 So, are you going to delete your tweet stating that she abstained, given the fact that it is demonstrably false?
How did her party vote, Paddy?
@SuzieD755164@paddymacc1 She didn’t abstain. It was vote pairing which is an entirely different thing that makes no difference to the outcome of the vote.
The Taoiseach is the face of government, whether popular or unpopular. For quite some time, that’s been Micheál Martin.
Very soon, Simon Harris will take his place and Fine Gael will bear the brunt of the government’s unpopularity.
The collapse isn’t over.
@Mairemaire112@curlymo_99@sinnfeinireland It’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day. I can’t explain the reason for vote pairing to you any more, if you simply refuse to understand its purpose.
Good luck.
@Mairemaire112@curlymo_99@sinnfeinireland So you can’t answer the very simple question that you’ve relentlessly argued about for the last hour? I thought as much.
To answer your question, I’ve criticised Sinn Féin to the point that I was blocked from their social media pages before.
Fancy answering my question, no?
@Mairemaire112@curlymo_99@sinnfeinireland It’s a very simple question. You don’t need to lecture me on Palestine, when I’m already in complete agreement.
What difference would it have made to the vote, if Sinn Féin had opted to refuse to engage in vote pairing?
@Mairemaire112@curlymo_99@sinnfeinireland Tell me, Máire, what difference would it have made if Sinn Féin, or any other party for that matter, had decided not to participate in vote pairing for this vote?
Not optics. What actual difference would we have seen?
