"Public ownership of water industry could save £22billion, MPs are told."

Oh look, you were lied to, nationalising the water industry isn't going to cost you billions, it could in fact save you £22 billion.

Who'd have guessed it.

BREAKING: GOTCHA! Kaitlan Collins springs the PERFECT TRAP as MAGA Sen. Bernie Moreno attacks Hunter Biden while defending Don Jr.’s Russian-funded wedding!

Last night, CNNs Kaitlan Collins asked Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno one simple question: Are you comfortable with a Russian oligarch close to Putin spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on celebrations for Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding?

Moreno’s answer was pure MAGA deflection – and it handed Collins the perfect opening.

“I don’t know who the Russian oligarch is,” Moreno said. “I know that Don Jr. is a great human being, an amazing American, I’m super happy for him and his family that they had a great wedding.”

He then tried to shut the whole thing down: “I think this is not the story that is worthy of your show.” Seconds later, Moreno went straight for some classic whataboutism:

“Look, you compare Don Jr. to Hunter Biden and you have one that’s a complete drug-addicted degenerate compared to a great human being and successful entrepreneur.”Collins didn’t miss a beat.

“Well, I’m glad you bring up Hunter Biden,” she replied. “I mean, if a Russian oligarch had bankrolled some of *his* celebrations, would you have questions about that?”

Moreno launched into the usual Burisma and China talking points, but Collins kept pressing: “So you do think it’s appropriate?”

When he tried to wave it off as “Hunter Biden stories,” she delivered the kill shot:

“Right, but if that’s inappropriate for him, why would this be appropriate?”

Moreno had no answer. He suddenly claimed he didn’t know the circumstances and insisted “there’s not a human being in Ohio that really cares about this story.”

Here’s what he didn’t want to talk about: Russian billionaire Umar Kremlev, a Putin-linked figure, reportedly spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on two nights of celebrations around Don Jr.’s wedding – including a private island and a massive fireworks display.

House Democrats have already opened an investigation into the arrangement, citing national-security and public-corruption concerns.

Moreno could have simply defended the gift on the merits. Instead he volunteered Hunter Biden as the standard for judging foreign money and influence – then immediately choked when Collins asked him to apply that same standard to the Trump family.

And this is exactly what Kaitlan Collins does so well.
She didn’t need a speech. She didn’t need to shout Moreno down. She listened to his answer, caught the contradiction he handed her, and refused to let him escape it by changing the subject.

When Moreno invoked Hunter Biden as the standard, Collins simply made him live by his own standard he just delineated.

That kind of persistence matters. Powerful people rarely volunteer the answer to the question they would rather not be asked, and journalism fails when an interviewer accepts the first deflection and moves along. Collins didn’t.

Fearless, savvy and unwilling to be distracted by the shiny object tossed in front of her, she demonstrated the kind of truth-to-power journalism that matters most when the people being questioned would much rather talk about somebody else.

If you are grateful for journalists like Collins, please like and share this post.

As someone living in Kyiv, I’m begging you:

Please help us stop this.

Almost every night, russia strikes Kyiv with ballistic missiles, hitting civilians, homes, and warehouses.

We can’t stop these missiles because we don’t have enough Patriot systems.

People are dying.

Please don’t look away. Share what’s happening in Ukraine. Help us save lives.

🚨BREAKING : According to his lawyer, Israeli authorities have transferred Palestinian Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya to solitary confinement as a form of abuse. He is reportedly subjected to daily violent assaults and held in extremely harsh conditions without any charges.

His lawyer warns that his health is in grave danger due to the conditions of his detention.

Despite repeated statements from his legal team documenting the severity of his condition, the @BBC continues to publish misleading claims about his case. We call on the BBC to uphold the principles of accurate, evidence-based journalism and report the facts with the rigor they demand of others.

Gavin Newsom knows exactly who Trump is and he isn't afraid to speak the truth.

"Trump didn’t drain the swamp—he gave it a gold-leaf presidential suite. He works for one man: himself. $4B richer while sitting in a public trust. This isn’t politics, it’s a heist. No king, no foreign power ever came this close to breaking American self-government."

America needs to hear more from Gavin and a lot less from Trump.

A lot of people would have you believe that handing over parts of the NHS to private providers is our only option

But…

* Only the NHS takes care of patients at A&E
* Only the NHS trains our doctors and nurses
* Only the NHS looks after all patients
