all opinions are mine and subject to change. mostly. I think. honestly I dunno that might change too. i do service design stuff and mom stuff and learning stuf.
Assuming our own take on information or experiences is more "rational" than someone elses is a bias. It discounts both your own emotions and experiences and those of other people. It robs you of the curiosity needed to engage meaningfully with actual humans.
I failed Finance at Uni my first time round. I couldn't make my brain buy into a "average rational investor". This myth of a perfectly rational human making perfectly rational choices is dangerous. #UX & product fall into this trap too. Build systems for people, not perfection.
@StructuredSucc Love is also a verb, not a fixed state. You don't arrive at love and park your butt. Sometimes the way we love others shows us how we need to love ourselves. It's an ongoing practice that evolves with us- and with ADHD we evolve so often. It's one of the things thats loveable af.
Is there a way to get an ADHD accommodation where you’re paired with someone without an executive function disorder who takes your big, interconnected and holistic view and helps break it down into structure?
Even when I try to build structure… it becomes a spiderweb again…
the second hand embarrassment I'm getting while watching #loveisblind is all consuming and also as a society we should be doing way more to protect Iyanna
Do you know how you get on our presale list? Make a cocktail, do a good deed for a friend you’ve lost contact with, show your fav women some love… it’s all the stuff we should do anyway but never find the time to! Join our discord and enjoy our presale challenges! They fun AF!✨
Well I bought an NFT. Of a bat. Cause I liked it. I did it on my iPhone cause I was out and about with my kid. The buying process was…. Not. Delightful. So much room for better experiences in this space.
What does that look like IRL? 1) figure out what kind of journey you’re on (have small existential crisis) 2) Figure out what tech/products make you feel like you’re progressing meaningfully on that journey. 3) Figure out if they did it on purpose or not.
Good design shouldn't just solve a problem. It should put someone on a path with better solutions and opportunities than they had before. And that path needs to be tightly aligned with your mission or purpose.
Been spending time in the weird intersection of strategy, UX, and human centred design and one thing that keeps ringing true regardless of discipline:
Good design empowers people through their journey
It takes in to account the persons understanding of their own journey at both a micro and macro level. Good design knows that a user can be both deeply present in a moment and experience, but ultimately working towards some other path.
Growing up with undiagnosed #ADHD I learned that the way I loved things I found interesting was different than the way other people did. To fit in better, I refused to let myself find & explore things that set my soul on fire.
Relearning how to ignite that flame in my 30s.
Not fully convinced Pete Davidson isn't the most sophisticated NFT on the market... highly experiential, public record of ownership, kinda weird looking but people are into it but can't really tell you why
