BREAKING: Congress just secured the most essential piece of @POTUS’ strategy for building a secure and affordable clean energy future: the Inflation Reduction Act 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Here’s what this means for Americans ⬇️ (Thread) https://t.co/sXMXEJ08rJ
Your regular reminder that, no, we are not all doomed, and climate meltdown can be stopped.
But it’s up to us, and depends on how fast we can take action to cut emissions. We’ve made some progress in recent years, but still have a long way to go: https://t.co/e6ZWNeddnd
We released guidance today to providers that ensures all patients who go to the emergency department for care have access to the full rights and protections for emergency care afforded under the law, which includes life- or health-saving abortion services. https://t.co/OgfP2bTDrf
Under the law, no matter where you live, women have the right to emergency care — including abortion care. In no uncertain terms, HHS will enforce this.
Abortion is legal in California.
It will remain that way.
I just signed a bill that makes our state a safe haven for women across the nation.
We will not cooperate with any states that attempt to prosecute women or doctors for receiving or providing reproductive care.
“If you think about it, almost 50% of all climate-related shareholder proposals that are filed are withdrawn for a commitment by companies. I mean, that is just incredible.” @CeresNews@ActOnClimate100@FortuneMagazine

"If the companies you are invested in are creating havoc on the planet, ruining the future for our kids and destabilizing the economy, I would argue you have a fiduciary duty to act on climate and not to ignore it." @MindyLubber@CeresNews@Reuters#RBUSA
"This is by far the largest group of targets from asset managers we've seen. We certainly hope that when the next round of targets are announced they're going to be much bigger. We hope to see 100% of their assets covered." @SpaldingKirsten@InvestorAgenda https://t.co/tApsh9tbm7
Our goal is 1.5°C of warming by 2100.
We reached 1.1°C of warming in 2021.
It's time to speed up climate action this decade, this year, this month, this week, right now.
Every fraction of a degree matters in the fight to ensure people and the planet can thrive.
The 98% vote was driven by Chevron’s board supporting the proposal, and actively encouraging shareholders to vote for it. “I’ve never heard of an oil company supporting a shareholder proposal, certainly not on climate, before.” @ALoganCeres@CeresNews

Congrats @MercyInvests: A 98% vote for their proposal calling on @Chevron to issue an analysis on the reliability of its methane disclosures! We commend @Chevron's support for the proposal & now look to $CVX to follow through on this resounding call to action from investors.
