I am begging people to understand that almost every test on the planet has something called "false positives," which means a risk that a result of the test is WRONG. A WRONG result can lead to necessary fear, worry, and at worst, unnecessary INVASIVE procedures or even unnecessary surgery. The chance of someone getting a false positive goes down when the person is at a higher risk of having an actual problem (ie. A specific SYMPTOM). This is called a higher "pretest probability." This is why doctors don't recommend everyone get every test all the time.

Had the best time co-coordinating @GoldFdtn Solidarity Week at @uazmedphx last week, from time with therapy dogs to an engaging discussion on health equity and advocacy! Grateful to the GHHS community for celebrating compassion and kindness in medicine ♥️ #ghhs#solidarityweek

Feeling so affirmed with my choice of specialty going through #FMRevolution interviews 🙌🏼 I’ve found my people and love hearing from others who share a passion for community medicine and providing care to the underserved

We’re SO EXCITED to have officially submitted ERAS and applied for residency!! I couldn’t imagine a better partner to take on this chapter with. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us along the way. See you on the interview trail! ☺️ #couplesmatch#Match2024#peds#familymed
Had the absolute BEST time at #AAFPNC the past 2 days! Exhausted but so happy after spending time with classmates, reconnecting with old friends, lots of networking with residency programs, and eating KC BBQ of course. Next up: more aways and ERAS! 🤞🥰 #FMRevolution@aafp
OMW to #AAFPNC in Kansas City (wearing my @uazmedphx shirt of course) and could not be more excited! Although a day late, I can’t wait to learn more about hot topics in Family Medicine and interact with residency programs that could be my home a year from now 🤩 #FMRevolution
Nearly 50% of pregnancies in the US are unintended, especially in young, low-income minorities, so this is a HUGE step in health access that the @US_FDA just approved the first over-the-counter (OTC) #birthcontrol.
Things to remember:
👩🏻⚕️Take it the SAME TIME OF DAY, EVERY DAY. This is key to efficacy (at least within 3 hours).
👩🏻⚕️It does not protect against STDs, so still use condoms if that is a possibility.
👩🏻⚕️It is a hormone (no estrogen, just progestin). Make sure to tell your doctor you are on it - don’t forget just b/c it’s OTC!

Since I’m officially a 4th year medical student, I thought I’d share some pearls for 3rd year/clinicals that I wish I had known. These are just a reflection of my personal experiences and thus are totally subjective… 🧵🪡 (1/9)
