#WorldEnvironmentDay is often about protecting nature. But building resilience is just as important.
For rural households in India, extreme weather is not a future risk, it is a present reality.
A study by ISB Professor @AshwiniChhatre, along with co-authors @PrachiDeuskar, Javed Mohib, and Deepanshi Bhardwaj, highlights how climate shocks are reshaping everyday survival.
When floods or droughts hit, rural families are often forced to sell gold, borrow from moneylenders, and delay or reduce investments to cope with immediate losses.
The research points to an often-overlooked pathway to climate resilience: financial inclusion. Access to banking, savings, credit, and insurance can help households absorb shocks, reduce vulnerability, and build long-term resilience.
A sustainable future depends not only on environmental health, but also on systems that enable people to live, adapt, and thrive through change.

A falling rupee doesn’t automatically signal a crisis. In a @livemint opinion piece, Prof. @TantriPrasanna argues that the real effective exchange rate offers a more nuanced picture of the rupee’s value, beyond its nominal movement against the dollar.
The bigger concern, he writes, is managing volatility while strengthening India’s long-term competitiveness and productivity.
