I had literally 30 mins while the baby was napping to play DBD with @IsbellKenneth and @Egbertoo_ and those were the best two games we’ve ever played in our lives 😂 guess we need a time limit going forward haha!
True disciples of Jesus Christ build, lift, encourage, persuade, and inspire. We can literally change the world—one person and one interaction at a time.
I am soon approaching my 100th birthday. One of the places where the Savior used the number 100 in the scriptures was the parable of the lost sheep. Though 99 of his flock were safely by his side, the shepherd went in search of the 1 who was lost.
At age 99, I have no need of physical gifts. But one spiritual offering that would brighten my life is for each of us to reach out to “the one” in our lives who may be feeling lost or alone.
Over the coming months I invite you to consider prayerfully: who do you know who may be discouraged? Who might you need to reconcile with or ask for forgiveness? Has one name been on your mind lately, though you haven’t quite known why? As you bring these questions to the Lord, He will inspire you to know how you can reach out and lift one who needs help.
What a beautiful example the Savior has shown us – that through each of us ministering to just one within our reach, we can spread the love of Jesus Christ throughout the world. #99plus1
On Valentine’s Day, people the world over celebrate love. But what does the word “love” really mean? Is it about flowers, chocolate, and gifts? Certainly, at times, it can be. But the second great commandment teaches of a different kind of love—that of actively loving our neighbor.
Giving help to others—making a conscientious effort to care about others as much as or more than we care about ourselves—is our joy. Especially, I might add, when it is not convenient and when it takes us out of our comfort zone. Living that second great commandment is the key to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
Of course, we must remember that the second great commandment follows an even greater commandment—which is the commandment to first love God.
We often see people in the world today ignore the first commandment. And yet, when we obey the first commandment, we are much better equipped to keep the second commandment.
It has been my privilege to witness the impact of many humanitarian efforts around the world made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Today, may we use this holiday dedicated to love as a reminder to recommit to loving our neighbor—whether they live in the house next door or across the globe.
