I spoke with County Highway Superintendent Shannon Burchett and want to assure our citizens that we are in good shape regarding road salt supplies. The county has approximately 450 tons of salt available and is prepared to respond to current and future winter weather conditions.

In a storm like this, FREEZING RAIN of that magnitude is a disaster. This could be where some of the biggest impacts lie simply because of extended power loss with very cold air to follow the storm. Here's the latest forecast. This is additional rainfall. Winds are expected to increase tonight and peak sometime on Friday morning. The strongest wind gusts Friday will be very dependent on where Helene tracks, with the strongest winds on the "right flank" of the storm center.
