Got some terrible news a little earlier… our man Simon, a fixture at Pompano along with Camilla for years, was injured today & could not be saved. He was trying to save a loose horse in Sweden, where Camilla returned after The Pomp closed.

Deepest condolences to Camilla Olsson on the loss of her beloved rock star SIMON, an @IsleRacingPP legend and recently a rock star as the first SB outrider pony in Camilla's native Sweden.

The dearly loved Simon suffered a fatal injury related to a loose horse, while on the job.

Pompano Park's rock star outrider/pony combo, Camilla and Simon (JC El Simon, by Holy Bull), moved to Camilla's native Sweden. I think Camilla is the first outrider over there, in a country that loves its harness racing.

About an hour after the last race ever at Pompano (approx 1:15 am April 18), I was fortunate to get a pic with the KING of the Pomp at the finish & after the finish. So happy @wlodarczyk was there to document the end, & brought back so many great memories when he sent it to me.
