the highest level encounter in pokemon games.

back in 2009, when pokemon platinum was released, players could explore a fancy spot called the resort. the area wasn’t showing something special at first glance, only some pools and fancy buildings.

however, there is a specific npc swimmer. if you speak to him, he claims that there is a hidden ruler in the area and the way to find him is by using a super rod.

a lot of player might think that this leads to a special pokemon or a shiny encounter. but the pokemon that players encounter is a magikarp. but this where things are getting interesting.

fishing system at pokemon platinum works with encounter slots that gives you different odds and different levels where you fish. but hidden within the code there is one specific slot. only 1% of the time. a wild magikarp can appear anywhere between level 1 to 100.

with quick maths this is a 1 to 10,000 chance to encounter the hidden ruler of the resort tied to the biggest level wild pokemon encounter in the entire pokemon games franchise.
