Min. P&NG Shri @dpradhanbjp along with officials of MoPNG and @ISPRL1 held a meeting to review project implementation of India's Strategic Petroleum Reserves (SPR) Phase-II programme.
The Phase-II programme will be developing additional 6.5 MMT commercial-cum-strategic crude reserves to further strengthen crude storage capacity in the country to respond to any supply disruptions and crude price volatility.
India currently has operational 5.33 MT capacity of underground strategic crude reserves at Visakhapatnam, Mangalore & Padur. Another 6.5 MMT facility is coming up at Chandikhol & Padur under Phase-II.
Min. Shri @dpradhanbjp also encouraged @ISPRL1 to redefine its role and develop necessary competencies to emerge as a commercial entity in the crude supply chain of the country and to expedite the activities under Phase-II of commercial-cum-strategic crude reserves programme.
Taking advantage of the low crude prices, ISPRL started filling India’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves to enhance the energy security of the Nation. IOCL, BPCL & HPCL apart from MRPL are associated in this exercise to fill the three SPRs located at Visakhapatnam, Mangalore & Padur
