Memorial Day is not just the start of summer. It is a day to remember the American heroes who gave their lives defending this nation and the freedoms we hold dear.

Today, the Illinois State Rifle Association honors the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States of America. We also remember the Gold Star families who carry that sacrifice every day.

Freedom is never free. The rights protected by our Constitution, including the Second Amendment, were secured and defended by generations of Americans willing to stand in harm’s way for this country.

HB 43 would create a task force to study forcing Illinois gun owners to carry liability insurance tied to so-called “gun violence.” This is not about safety. It is about placing a financial burden on a constitutional right. At the same time, the RIFL Act continues applying pressure on manufacturers and dealers, shrinking access while lawsuits drag on. The strategy is clear: let the process become the punishment. Illinois gun owners are resilient, responsible, and determined. ISRA has defended your rights since 1912, and we will not back down. Statement from the Illinois State Rifle Association:
The Illinois State Rifle Association is concerned about recent statements from US Attorney Bill Essayli and FBI Director Kash Patel implying that people do not have a right to carry firearms at protests. The ISRA maintains that individuals have a constitutional right to carry a firearm at a protest, provided they are acting lawfully. ISRA calls for an open and transparent investigation into the recent shooting incident in Minnesota. The association also commends Illinois General Assembly members who previously opposed the Second Amendment but now recognize the right to carry firearms outside the home. The Illinois State Rifle Association looks forward to collaborating with these legislators to review and address unconstitutional laws, beginning with Section 65 ("Prohibited Areas") of the Conceal Carry Act of 2013 (430 ILCS 66/65).

🚨 Illinois Gun Owners: Pay Attention 🚨

Springfield politicians are pushing the most dangerous gun legislation Illinois has ever seen.

HB 3320 and SB 2279 — the so-called RIFL Act — would slap firearm manufacturers with massive “public health” fees tied to shootings they didn’t commit. The first-year price tag? $821 million.

That works out to more than $1,600 per firearm sold — with fines of $1 million per month for manufacturers who refuse to comply and $10,000 per gun for dealers who sell unapproved firearms.

The goal is simple: shut down manufacturers, choke off dealers, and stop gun sales in Illinois without ever voting on a gun ban.

This bill doesn’t stop criminals.
It targets you.
