When Satan tempted Jesus, He could have asserted His divine identity by saying, โDonโt you know I am the Son of God?โ
But He didnโt.
Instead, He responded with the words, โIt is written.โ
In that moment, He was teaching us something powerful:
Our authority doesnโt come from titles, emotions, or spiritual experiences โ it comes from the Word of God.
The Word is our reference point, our weapon, and our anchor.
If Jesus, the Son of God, used scripture to confront the enemy, how much more should we?
Let the Word dwell in us richly.
Because when life presses us, whatโs written should be what comes out.
Every time you are confronted with fear, tell Satan:โจโIt is written โ God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.โ (2 Timothy 1:7)
When you feel weak, declare:โจโIt is written โ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.โ (Philippians 4:13)
When the enemy tries to condemn you, stand firm and say:โจโIt is written โ there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.โ (Romans 8:1)
When lack surrounds you, speak with confidence:โจโIt is written โ the Lord is my Shepherd; I lack nothing.โ (Psalm 23:1)
So I was reading about King Solomon in the Bible, and honestlyโฆ this story messed with my head a little. In 1 Kings 3:12, God literally told Solomon that He would give him wisdom like no one before him and no one after him. Likeโฆ imagine being the wisest person to ever live. Ever. That made me wonder, Why did God make Solomon so special? Why give him wisdom greater than anyone else in history? Then I kept reading, and I found his downfall in 1 Kings 11.
I was confused. Where did that wisdom go?
How could the wisest man in the world end up worshiping idols? How could someone so wise make such foolish decisions? So I kept searching, reading, thinkingโฆ... and then I found this line that hit me hard: "If this was the case with the wisest man who ever lived, then what hope do we have apart from constant dependence on Jesus Christ? Let the example of Solomon drive us to greater dependence on Him." And thatโs when it clicked. No matter how smart you are. No matter how blessed you are.
No matter how high God lifts you. If you stop fearing Godโฆ.. If you stop depending on Him..... You can fall. Badly. Even Solomon fell.
And it honestly felt like God was talking straight to me:
โOh you want to be wise?
Look at the wisest man in the world.
See what happened when he stopped walking with Me.โ
Godโs works are truly beyond our understanding.
Praise the Lord!
