@pati_gallardo @hikhvar @sentient__slime If I understand correctly the programms speed up would be by a factor of A if the cache size is also A. Please correct me if i'm wrong. In big O notation this factor would still vanish as it's constant

@pati_gallardo @hikhvar @sentient__slime If you can ensure this for every possible input, yes. It probably will be in an average case analysis. But for a worst case analysis i think there will be a scenario in which this will not hold. But i'm no expert to prefetching. Maybe an online algorithm analysis would be better?

@pati_gallardo @hikhvar @sentient__slime This is true as long as the the input size N can fit inside the cache with fixed size A. But as N can grow arbitrarily large in big O notation it can and will exceed the cache size. So it is important to include the cache size as a variable dependent on the input length N.

@hikhvar @sentient__slime @pati_gallardo The Cache size would be a constant, hence it will vanish in big O notation. The L2 cache example is also invalid as there are always Datasets bigger than the (fixed) cache size. For proper Analysis, a new variable for the Cache size needs to be introduced.
