One thing about being at events like #Token2049, you can always tell the real ones from the fake ones trying to flex.
When you deal with big money and names, you don't sit in a hotel lobby blabbing your business out loud.
Real power is discreet.
This. This is fantastic. 🤌🤌🤌
@oliver__s__ Does seeing Merlion get a pass? I kinda like that stuff. Not a fan of selfies or small talk tho so the rest I get.
Thank you for your service.
Important tips to survive token 2049:
1) never attend the conference itself - super boring and most of the speakers are v self-indulgent so you can hear the same thing for free in their endless podcast appearances
2) if a side event has a Luma invite then it's probably not worth going to
3) if a side event is at Marquee or Avenue, assume it will have 10x the max capacity turn up (mostly non-crypto people looking for a free drink) and plan to just stand outside for 3 hours
4) never go to Yishun...it's known for random cat murders but they would likely do the same to tourists
5) don't post commentary and pictures of hawker food as if you've found some hidden eating gem...you are an NPC conference attendee, not Anthony Bourdain
6) similarly don't post pictures of KOMA or other MBS shit and make reference to your fine dining experience, unless you want to dox yourself as having the same taste level as a first year student taking his mid-Sinkie gf out for her birthday dinner
7) never go to Mandala club - many people will tell you it's cool, but then you'll realise they are also members and much like memecoin bag holders are stuck in a perpetual hell of having to convince everyone (including themselves) that it's good
8) if you are out late at night and someone suggests 'let's go to Brix' - that someone is likely a sex offender...make your excuses and leave
9) never attend a party on a boat - it's like a normal party except there is no exit. You are stuck talking to people until it gets back to shore, which is often 3 hours too long
10) if you want to do some non-crypto things, don't do tourist stuff and instead go hike around MacRitchie or Bukit Timah...they're much nicer than the city centre
PSA: On the eve of @token2049 week, please be CAREFUL when talking to people you don't know.
🇰🇵 North Korea has used proxies to socially engineer people in real life at conferences (see $285M Drift hack in April). Others do the same.
Be extremely careful what you disclose.
Don’t create a new security. Upgrade the one that already exists.
Modernize the system itself.
@rleshner joined @fintechfrank on @GSR_io’s The Crypto Tape to discuss Superstate’s approach to tokenization.
This was me. At my son's Fall chorus concert just now. He saw me approaching the stage before showtime to say hi & quickly waved his hand discreetly over his throat, motioned for me to turn right back around, and mouthed "mom, no!"
😭
Excited to join the board of @cypherpunk and be part of what comes next. They have a great team, strong momentum, and plenty more to come. 🚀
