PsyD #students Adam Sensoli & Sarah Kosten Goode summarized their findings to help @iThembaProjects, a non-profit org that CABS students have worked with for yrs, assess if their prgrm is making an impact in changing parent’s beliefs & practices around early childhood development
Grateful for @canva amazing customer service, & their commitment to helping nonprofits tell their stories. Small budgets doesn't have to look low budget, thanks to them!
What if every social impact initiative were to have an ‘exit strategy’ approach, where they might have a 1month, 1yr, 5yr, or 10yr time frame? Listen to the community upfront. Then aim to exit, by making them so sustainable that they don’t need you anymore https://t.co/fuVxtxmSLP

Happy to be back at youth mentoring home visits! Research shows that having a link to just 1 caring adult is a key factor in building resilience in young people. Grateful for these mentors who are showing up for these kids & teens! #resilience#youthmentoring
Grateful to our partners who have been powering this work through these COVID-19 times! They are driving a sustainable food revolution! Proud of the 400 families who have persevered with their gardens, providing nutirtion for their families. #sustainablenutrition

Stu Walker, Director at @iThembaProjects is up next discussing ‘From Subsistence to Sustainability: Laying Economic Sustainability into the Local Context’. He will be addressing what successful community development looks like. #BeTheRegeneration#BuildBackBetter#IGCConference20
“The community chose to unite around food gardens in a time when food parcels were the norm. When communities take the lead in creating their own solutions, we can #BuildBackBetter” – Stu Walker

"My daughter is only 9 months but I read to her over lockdown + I'm excited to get new books now! I hope she will grow up with curiosity to learn!"- a mum we partner with in our home-based ECD programme. Thanks to @bookdash + our partners for getting these books to babies!
Real #sustainablenutrition means more than seedlings — it means helping build up the existing network of relationships: Like the teacher who asked us to help her neighbours who were struggling start a garden & shared her fenced land with them!
One of the community gardens we helped start... meanwhile, as of this week, 353 families have their own home permaculture food garden! This week alone, 25 of the families harvested produce. That's #sustainablenutrition!
“I’m greatful for this different kind of “food parcel” (GARDEN!) I think having a garden is much better than food parcels because it does not bring division in the community over who has access to parcels + who doesn’t. Also, the garden is long-lasting and will never run out.”
