Two years almost no one was talking about Israel and Netanyahu-now, all of a sudden, hating them is the number one issue? Because of a huge and disgusting terrorist attack-against Israel? Lemmings๐
When you see this painting, you feel resentment and anger about current economic conditions.
When I see it, I feel a bittersweet mix of pride, love, loss, and hope that is timeless and beautiful.
We are all entitled to our own perspective, and maybe mine makes me โdenseโ. But Iโll take it.
No one is forcing you to hate everything you experience either. Thatโs up to you. And in your perfect world, who cleans the sewer? Are there a group of people somewhere who just love doing this and having to do it everyday would fill their lifeโs ambition? If so Iโd like to talk to one of them; I find this perspective fascinating. Or are we all just shitting in a bucket and throwing it in the street (again)? Man, communists are dumb!
Being broke and being poor are very different. Poor people donโt have cell phones, or cars, or indoor plumbing. And they are usually malnourished. Most of our โpoorโ are obese. Capitalism has made possible for the โpoorโ today a better quality of life than the wealthy 75 years ago, and for the poorest in America to be near the top of the socioeconomic ladder when compared to actual poor (no cell phone, no indoor plumbing) people around the globe. Your perspective is skewed.
@HailApollon@MPelletierCIO It looks a son eagerly awaiting a train to take him away on his new life while his father is reluctant to see him go. So my son and I could relate. But Iโm sure youโre right. I am just a dumb machinist. Norman Rockwell was well known for class envy and resentment.
Not a thing! I am proud to be a machinist, as I am proud of him for wanting to become a teacher. My point was that the Rockwell is beautiful and timeless, that it has nothing to do with class, that my son understood its meaning immediately, and to not see any of that but instead transpose your grievance politics on it is gross and sad!
