Welcome to Wellington, @VancityReynolds! Where the real action happens, and apparently, where Weta made both Deadpool and Wrexham. Must sting a bit, eh? Anyway, go the Phoenix!

@unclebobmartin Twitter promotes controversial/political tweets more than tech tips
By claiming you may no longer be shadow-banned prompts more interactions, prompting higher relevance rankings in turn appearing again in timelines as if you arose from a ban
You made a self fulfilling prophecy
Spoiler alert, it is very close
Honestly I don't think I would travel to the USA again. A real lack of values. I'm not saying everyone should have the same values as me ... but some level of integrity, honesty and some vague interest in facts
Nope, not important to half of USA
@ctrlshifti In other companies(/countries) an employee should first try to raise concerns privately first in a constructive way... Not in a dictatorship like Twitter
Elon doesn't need people running to his defense, there are bigger questions to ask here
@ctrlshifti Agreed, and there is no alternative
With Musk, if you call out bad behaviour privately you get fired and nothing improves so of course going public is preferred as society can apply pressure
For example, advertisers leaving Twitter
@MalwareTechBlog@elonmusk Got a favorite alternative?
I gave Mastodon a nudge but it has a bit of a learning curve, so I a still assessing. I think I need to find a community on it
@Acosta Thanks to independent-minded voters:
Voting against Trump candidates help curb the worst excesses of American politics
I am a little more confident your country's political system can work
@brockneedcoffee@ashleymcnamara Agreed, surely just ask the friggen technical question?!
Assuming someone doesn't know is never wise and often outright insulting
@wanner_tyler @brianloveswords Situation: When you say hey, then wait until I reply minutes later to ask the question
Impact: You are potentially interrupting me twice
Question: Do you are how asking the question upfront would be less disruptive?
@wanner_tyler @brianloveswords I think "Hey, you free?" would be an improvement if a longer exchange is required.
Often the question that follows can be answered asynchronously so I'm not sure

@copyconstruct@Carnage4Life@nytimes Left wing politics requires a greater cognitive load. There are all these minorities to be sympathetic towards... and for many there is no hope of true empathy
Is the compromise to be more tolerant of those who are just being dense and mean no harm. I honestly don't know
@madebygoogle Why is "turn off auto-play" in the options menu...
I forgot I set my country to Australia for similar reasons
The roll out of new countries is ridiculously slow
@googlenesthelp turning off Auto Play (Auto-play next video: Turn off for me AND when someone isn't recognised) for each Google Display's YouTube settings just does not work!
This is annoying for adults but greater has consequences for parents
Please fix it @madebygoogle
@madebygoogle The main thing is the two auto-play options need to be set per device (strangely not per account/home)
There are no other settings related to this unfortunately. My google account should have YouTube autoplay off too but that isn't relevant, apparently
