At just 10, he chose courage over fear.
On July 2, 2019, in a pond at Muolbem in Manipur’s Churachandpur, three girls were drowning.
Lalkansung didn’t stop to think, he jumped in and pulled them to safety.
For this act of bravery, he was honoured with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, India’s highest civilian award for children.
His story reminds us: heroes don’t wait to grow up.

PROJECT HAIL MARY (2026) is the kind of sci-fi blockbuster that makes you remember why the genre is so damn exciting. Big ideas, ridiculous scale, and a story that somehow makes astrophysics feel like a crowd-pleaser.
“What is the point of education if you don’t even know your own history?”
At the Jharkhand student protest, Babita, an Adivasi woman makes a powerful argument about what education really means — and who gets to define it.
She speaks about growing up in a state where education has remained deeply unequal, where government schools struggle with basic resources and where, she says, thousands of schools have only one teacher. But for her, the problem goes beyond poor infrastructure and alleged corruption in examinations.
She asks: why are children taught about India’s Independence, but not enough about Birsa Munda, the Santhal Hul or Jaipal Singh Munda? Why is Adivasi history and knowledge still pushed to the margins of the curriculum?
Take a little time off to applaud a great 74 shots rally & a fantastic win by PV Sindhu at the Japan Open 🏸

He isn't asking for donations. He's asking for students.
Shovan Chakraborty once spent his days teaching Rabindra Sangeet, a passion he nurtured from childhood under his mother's guidance.
He studied music at Visva-Bharati University, earned postgraduate degrees in three subjects, and built his life around teaching.
Then the pandemic took away his students, one by one.
To keep food on the table, he took a job as a security guard. But losing his profession wasn't the hardest part. It was watching people stop believing in him.
"Who would learn music from a security guard?" they asked.
Today, Shovan works night shifts to support his elderly mother and family. Yet every day, he holds on to the hope of returning to the classroom.
"I don't need financial help. I just want to teach again. If you can help me find students, that would be the greatest support I could ask for."
If you or someone you know wants to learn Rabindra Sangeet, please consider reaching out.
