I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

As the first woman Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and for her role in the struggle to establish democracy, her contributions to the nation were significant and will be remembered. Her passing represents a profound loss for Bangladesh’s political life and for the leadership of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

I pray for the eternal peace and forgiveness of Begum Khaleda Zia’s soul.

I convey my sincere sympathies to her son, Tarique Rahman, and to the members of her bereaved family. I also extend my condolences to the wider BNP family. I hope that Almighty Allah grants them patience, strength, and comfort to endure this difficult time.

In Sitakunda, Chattogram, Hindu youth Bijoy Debnath was brutally beaten by local NCP terrorists, handed over to the police, and falsely charged. His only so called crime was posting a birthday wish for me on his Instagram story.

Since I am a non religious person, the Yunus government believes no one should post a birthday wish for me.

I strongly condemn this terrorist and barbaric act and demand the unconditional release of Bijoy Debnath. This incident proves that there is a severe violation of religious freedom and human rights in Bangladesh.

I appeal to international human rights organizations and people who value humanity to stand with us.

আজ ��৪ ডিসেম্বর, শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবী দিবস। ১৯৭১ সালের এদিনে বর্বর পাকিস্তানি বাহিনী ও তাদের এদেশীয় দোসর রাজাকার, আল বদর, আল-শামস বাহিনী বাংলার শ্রেষ্ঠ সন্তান বুদ্ধিজীবীদের নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করে। হানাদার পাকিস্তানি বাহিনী তাদের পরাজয় আসন্ন জেনে বাঙ���লি জাতিকে মেধাশূন্য করার লক্ষ্যে বুদ্ধিজীবী নিধনের এই পরিকল্পনা করে।

মুক্তিযুদ্ধের শেষলগ্নে ১০ থেকে ১৪ ডিসেম্বরের মধ্যে আল-বদর বাহিনী ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ক্যাম্পাসসহ দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থান থেকে শিক্ষক, সাংবাদিক, চিকিৎসক, প্রকৌশলী, আইনজীবী, সংস্কৃতি কর্মীসহ বিভিন্ন পেশার বরেণ্য ব্যক্তিদের অপহরণ করে ঢাকার মোহাম্মদপুর ফিজিক্যাল ট্রেনিং ইনস্টিটিউটে স্থাপিত আল-বদর বাহিনীর ক্যাম্পে নিয়ে যায়। ১৪ ডিসেম্বরে নিদারুণ যন্ত্রণা দিয়ে রায়েরবাজার ও মিরপুরে তাদের হত্যা করা হয়।

শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবীদের মধ্যে রয়েছেন অধ্যাপক মুনীর চৌধুরী, ডা. আলিম চৌধুরী, ডা. ফজলের রাব্বি, ডা. মোহাম্মদ মর্তুজা, অধ্যাপক মুনিরুজ্জামান, অধ্যাপক গোবিন্দ চন্দ্র(জিসি) দেব, অধ্যাপক জ্যোতির্ময় গুহ ঠাকুরতা, অধ্যাপক সন্তোষ ভট্টাচার্য, অধ্যাপক গিয়াস উদ্দিন আহমেদ, অধ্যাপক মোফাজ্জল হায়দার চৌধুরী, অধ্যাপক আনোয়ার পাশা, সাংবাদিক সিরাজুদ্দীন হোসেন, শহীদুল্লাহ কায়সার, খোন্দকার আবু তালেব, নিজামুদ্দীন আহমদ, এস এ মান্নান(লাডু ভাই), আ ন ম গোলাম মোস্তফা, সৈয়দ নাজমুল হক, সেলিনা পারভিন, আবুল বাশার চৌধুরী, মুহাম্মদ আখতার সহ আরও অনেকে।

জাতির এক গভীর সংকটময় মুহূর্তে �� বছর শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবী দিবস পালিত হচ্ছে। স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী এবং বুদ্ধিজীবী নিধনকারীদের দোসররা দেশি-বিদেশি ষড়যন্ত্রের মাধ্যমে নির্বাচিত আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারকে হটিয়ে অবৈধভাবে ক্ষমতা দখল করে সাধারণ মানুষের উপর অমানবিক নিপীড়ন- নির্যাতন চালাচ্ছে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনাকে জলাঞ্জলি দিয়ে জামা��ে ইসলামীসহ ১৯৭১-এর পরাজিত শক্তিকে পুনর্বাসন করছে। পরিকল্পিতভাবে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের স্মারকচিহ্ন ধ্বংস করেছে। প্রিয় দেশকে জঙ্গিদের উর্বর লীলাভূমিতে পরিণত করছে।

স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী অপশক্তির এসব অপকর্ম বীর বাঙালি কোনদিন মেনে নেয়নি, ভবিষ্যতেও নেবে না। এদের দাঁতভাঙ্গা জবাব দেওয়ার জন্য আমি মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনায় বিশ্বাসী সকলকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ হওয়ার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছি।

আমি শহীদ বুদ্ধিজীবীদের ��ত্মার মাগফেরাত এবং শান্তি কামনা করছি।
