I fell in love with Kiwis a few months ago so I eat them daily, not realizing it is the reason why my stomach is consistently flat with little to no effort🥹
I accidentally stopped a robbery in a restaurant once. I saw patrons cowering under tables. My eyes scanned across the room. My slow gaze met the robber’s as I slurped up my spaghetti.
Pride. I was mortified that my deafness put me in this position. And pissed at myself. I refuse to let them see how stupid I felt. I apparently did not hear the commotion. I kept chewing on my noodles. And I slurped a long one in my mouth. I kept the eye contact.
He ran out, nearly dropping his rifle.
Later when he was caught, he told cops there was a lady who was freaky. She was so calm and collected. (He didn’t know I couldn’t hear.)
“She was just sitting there. Eating her spaghetti. Ain’t nothing gonna come between her and that spaghetti.”
Tolerating always turns to resentment. At first, you call it patience, then love. But what it really is, is self-abandonment. Every time you swallow a boundary, excuse a pattern, or silence your discomfort, something inside you keeps score. And eventually, the bill comes due.
Also, some of the most difficult friendships you can find yourself in are with people who place too much weight on every single feeling they experience.
People who believe that everything they feel must be immediately acknowledged, centered, and validated can unintentionally trap you in relationships that feel like emotional landmines. You start walking on eggshells. You start over explaining. You start managing moods instead of building connection.
Not every feeling is a fact. Not every feeling is a crisis. Not every feeling requires another person to stop their life and hold space for it in that exact moment.
Feelings are powerful but they are also temporary. They change with sleep. They change with food. They change with stress. They change with hormones. They change with perspective. If someone is fully controlled by every feeling that passes through them, they hand over control of their relationships, decisions, and stability to something that is constantly shifting.
Mature people feel things deeply but they do not outsource responsibility for regulating those feelings to everyone around them. They reflect. They communicate clearly. They ask for support when needed. They do not weaponize emotion or use it as proof that others have failed them.
Healthy friendships make room for emotions without being ruled by them. There is empathy but there are also boundaries. There is support but there is also personal accountability. There is care without emotional hostage taking.
The strongest friendships I know are not built on constant emotional intensity. They are built on mutual respect, clear communication, shared values, and the understanding that we are all responsible for managing our inner world while still showing up for each other when it truly matters.
No offense to this person but I never understand being a late bloomer in your own life
Your life is unique to you, you can’t be late in your own life unless you’re comparing to someone else
I love it when older Nigerian women pursue their dreams. She often DJs in her lace wrapper, blouse and gele and she has a lot of fun doing it. More of this please
My husband DIED. Like full dead. Funeral, obituary, the whole thing. Very sad, very permanent, wouldn’t recommend it. He trusted someone he shouldn’t have. Made one mistake and it cost him everything.
Interesting choice to mock a dead man to his widow on the internet. Very brave. Incredibly stupid. My late husband may be gone but his very large, VERY ITALIAN, very unemployed cousins who loved him dearly are not.
The last man who spoke to me like this is currently experiencing technical difficulties with his kneecaps. The one before that? Let’s just say he went swimming and forgot how to float. Very educational experience for him.
I’m adding you to the list. Not a threat, it’s literally just a list of people I’m praying about. Very Catholic. Very normal. I light candles. I say names. The old ladies at church think I’m SO devoted.
I need you to understand something. I’m Italian. I’m widowed. I’ve got nothing but TIME and RAGE. My Nonna? She’s 94 and holding grudges from 1931 like they happened yesterday. This is GENETIC.
Delete this before Sunday dinner. They’re already talking about ‘taking out the trash.’ Their words, not mine. I’m just a grieving widow who happens to have the entire northern New Jersey sanitation industry on speed dial.
The Falcons have won WAFCON for the 10th time. They deserve all the respect, endorsements, pay, media rounds, magazine covers and airtime their less accomplished colleagues do usually get oh. 👀
My friend and her family are currently on a cruise. Her aunt turned 60 and about 150 of them are on a euro cruise for a week. I’ve watched them explore fashion, dance moves, restaurant hopping etc. One thing lack of money does is that it might conceal your full personality and experiences. What if you love to sail? What if you love to explore certain fashion or even love certain food? What if you have a bigger personality? Poverty is a thief and it steals from you.
