Stuff just keeps on getting older, very much including me. But I’m pleased to report that my heart surgery last month appears to have been a success. I don’t take anything for granted but I’m back at my desk completing the writing of my next book which I’m due to deliver to my publishers at end October.
Meanwhile, life goes on! I enjoy meeting and interacting with those who find my work useful. Before the serious problems with my heart had been diagnosed I had made commitments to host three tours in 2027 – to Egypt in March 2027, to Turkey in May 2027 and to Peru and Bolivia in August 2027. Because I must be mindful of my health challenges, I will now be joining each tour for five days during which I will offer two exclusive multi-media presentations and make myself fully-available for Q&A sessions, for individual face-to-face conversations with guests, for signing books and for photographs. Here are the revised details of the three tours:

Now targeting Friday, July 24 for Starship’s thirteenth flight test, due to weather.
A key objective for the flight test is to get clear imagery from the ground of Starship’s heatshield as it flies at a higher dynamic pressure during ascent, which won't be possible with today's weather conditions. Visibility is forecast to be ideal for a Friday attempt.
"...a small group of scientists here has been investigating a strange new space-age metal, a nickel titanium alloy called Nitinol..."
"...the Department of Energy invited the people of McDonnell-Douglas to investigate the potential for Nitinol heat engines & Nitinol power plants."
Fascinating stuff.
"...no one knows exactly why this machine is working because no one knows exactly why Nitinol behaves the way it does."
