Three men entered a cave.

Then a massive rock rolled down the mountain and sealed the entrance.

They couldn’t move it.

They couldn’t escape.

So they realized that their only way out was to call upon Allah through the most sincere deeds they had ever done.

The first man remembered his parents.

He had a habit of giving them milk before anyone else in his household.

One night, he returned home late and found them asleep.

His children were hungry at his feet, but he refused to give the milk to anyone before his parents.

So he stood there.

Waiting.

Holding the milk until they woke in the morning.

He said:

“O Allah, if I did that sincerely seeking Your pleasure, relieve us from what has happened to us.”

The rock moved.

But not enough for them to escape.

Then the second man spoke.

He had deeply desired a woman whom he loved.

Eventually, when he had the opportunity to commit the sin he wanted, she reminded him to fear Allah.

And he stopped.

Even though he had the opportunity.

Even though he desired her.

He walked away from the sin and left what he had given her.

He called upon Allah:

“O Allah, if I did that seeking Your pleasure, remove this hardship from us.”

The rock moved again.

Still, they couldn’t get out.

Then the third man remembered someone who had once worked for him.

The worker left without collecting his wages.

Instead of keeping the money, the man invested it.

Over time, it grew into substantial wealth—livestock and servants.

Years later, the worker returned and asked for his wages.

The man pointed toward everything the investment had produced and told him it was all his.

The worker thought he was joking.

He wasn’t.

He gave him everything.

Then the third man called upon Allah:

“O Allah, if I did this sincerely for Your sake, relieve us.”

The rock moved completely.

And the three men walked out.

Three private acts of righteousness.

No audience.

No applause.

But when they were trapped with no human being capable of saving them, those deeds became part of their du’a.

Never underestimate a good deed simply because nobody sees it.

Allah does.

He was found closer to the land he was traveling toward.

And Allah forgave him.

Imagine carrying the weight of 100 murders—and still discovering that the door of sincere repentance had not been closed.

Never convince yourself that you’ve gone too far to return to Allah.

And sometimes Allah gives you something completely different, and months later you finally understand why.
