@DavidLRubongoya@kiizaeron The tragedy is that people like him never learn. When theyโre in power, they only think about themselves. Itโs only when the same system turns on them that they suddenly discover the value of justice and the rule of law.
@SpireJim@serugo 99% Ugandans lack critical thinking skills. Thatโs why they easily jump on whatever bandwagon is presented to them instead of questioning the facts.
It is true that many Ugandans are against homosexuality. The thieving politicians quickly realised that they can use it as a shield to hide their theft. The strategy then was aggressively support the passing of the AHA law so that any time theyโre called out they can hoodwink their masters and the public that they were being persecuted because of the law. It is also the reason they would never respond to the corruption allegations but instead cry persecution. And since many of the revelations came from civil society, they took advantage of governmentโs own paranoia and blackmailed it into thinking foreigners/homosexuals were directly funding campaigns to fight leaders close to the president and destabilise the country. These are old basic techniques in mass Manipulation and Propaganda books, but they will always find some believers. However, as with anything overused, the homosexuality/imperialist card lost its teeth in Uganda. Anyone can see through the torn veil.
The inadvertent bad side of this propaganda card is that, when real Imperialism comes out to bite, we are like โthe boy who cried wolfโ. It eats us as everyone thinks itโs the usual politicking. and running from accountability.
In Frame1, journalist @TimKalyegira arrives at court on handcuffs for writing statements that made the powerfull uncomfortable. In Frame 2 Chris Obore a public servant accused of stealing over Shs27b arrives at court without cuffs. #WeAreStupid
I remember the insults, abuse and every name I was called during the homosexuality bill debate. My only question was: how does someoneโs sexuality affect your daily life? While everyone was distracted, those people were busy stealing our money. Ugandans youโre naturally stupid!
Office of the @IGGUganda has arrested 8 senior officials from @Parliament_Ug over corruption-related allegations involving financial misconduct. The suspects are expected to be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court.
AGORA previously highlighted these cases in our accountability work and welcomes this development as a step toward institutional accountability. We will continue to highlight all related cases as proceedings unfold. We emphasise that due process, transparency, and the rule of law must be upheld throughout this process.

In a country with a serious government, these three individuals @AAgather, @SpireJim and @GodwinTOKO would be awarded national honours for opening the lid and blowing the whistle on the grand corruption that was taking place in Parliament. I can't help but remember the kind of vitriol they received from regime apologists for releasing details of shocking transactions of billions landing on personal accounts. At the highest level, they were branded traitors and agents of foreigners.
Today, the same facts they revealed are stated in court documents. Even when the regime continues to harass them for their work, this moment provides all of us a lesson that when you remain consistent at doing the right thing, you'll most certainly be vindicated at the right time.
@DuncanAbigaba Do you even hear yourselves? Do you no longer have functioning brains or what? Judges who canโt be fair should step down if they donโt want to bear the blame. Itโs no different from a doctor injecting a patient with poison simply because someone told them to.
@samkelemaseko What in the worldโฆ? A whole president met with and dined alongside people after they had murdered others in the streets simply because they were African immigrants. Itโs astonishing how quickly you people have forgotten your own history.
@JanetMuseveni Sheโs also a mother and a grandmother. Remember that every choice leaves a legacy. The suffering your family causes today may become the lesson your children and grandchildren inherit tomorrow. Karma never forgets an address.
@DavidLRubongoya I honestly donโt even have the words anymore. The direction this country is heading should concern everyone. Sooner or later, weโll all be asking ourselves why we stood by and allowed this to happen. By then, the regret may be impossible to undo.
@KagutaMuseveni Itโs easy to preach discipline and accountability to others, but they should start at home. Your own sonโs public behavior raises serious questions about the values you claim to uphold.
