This is a classic example of a postgame press conference where a coach cherry-picks the data to work the officials for the next game.
Knicks coach Mike Brown's rant is great theater, but the math shows a game of two distinct halves rather than a one-sided officiating conspiracy.
In the first two quarters, the whistle actually favored New York as the Knicks took nearly twice as many free throws as the Spurs.
Perhaps the most telling reality check came from the Knicks' own players. Following this presser, both Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson publicly pushed back on Brown's narrative, with Towns flatly stating to the media that the referees "didn't cost us the game."
So when you see Knicks fans spreading this fake narrative point them to this tweet and the facts.
@michaelkasdan We all know Wemby is getting mauled out there on every play. Thats not ball. That might be Knicks ball, but it has no place it the NBA. While we’re at it, go ahead and defend Josh Hart kicking then shoving a player that merely bumped him inadvertently… and Brunson pushoffs
@ghostapple_ari@michaelkasdan@TheSteinLine Cool, now show every play that Wemby is being grabbed and we will watch the entire game again.
You cannot complain about one play and turn a blind eye to the rest of the entire game

@mike_daddino@MikeHerndonSk1 Now show every play of the game where they’re “guarding” Vic…. None of which were called. The Knicks complaining about foul calls is crazy work
