For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.
As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.
Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.
We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.
From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
@Pirat_Nation Not only is it not Game of the Year. It's not even Game of the DAY. Slay the Spire 2 released on March 5th as well and is a much better game with a much better chance at winning any award. Marathon doesn't win a year or even a day.

The avant garde modifier needs to be removed from the game entirely. Conquests will still not be fun (even though they will be replayable) due to the fact that 90% of the gear in the game is disabled. If it's removed we are almost back to how GMs used to be.
We are proud to announce that Justin Truman will be stepping up as Bungie’s new Studio Head as Pete Parsons retires from his position to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders.

@GernaderJake At 450 light you get a tier 5 drop every game no matter what (as long as you get a kill or 2). Win or Loss doesn't matter. So I want to 5-0 the other team or they 0-5 us. Either way I get a tier 5 drop. No incentive to win, go flawless, or even try to play well.
@Destiny2Team No more tier 5s at 450 light. Just got an "A" score in solo ops, pinnacle activity, fireteam op, and a crucible game and got tier 4s. Only Keplar loot is tier 5 now. No reason to play the game till Ash and Iron Sep. 9?????
Just did 40 straight K1's on GM with no primes :)
2 hours and 45 minutes straight farming no breaks. Why does this system exist. In total played for 4 hours and 15 minutes straight for 2 total primes for a total of 1 level gained. Very cool.
I would love to see 6 Bungie Devs clear this raid on contest with the same gear lockouts we have. I would pay HUNDREDS of dollars to watch them clear this.
How can you be against loadout swapping when it would be 100% impossible without it?
@Dr_Bubbles@GSXRCLYDE So you could go in with your stacked gear to run people over. If you die you lose all that good stuff. Or you could go in with weak gear so its low risk. Seasonal wipes are required so people can't hoard all good items forever.
@Dr_Bubbles@GSXRCLYDE You extract with the gear you currently have. Then before you join another game you decide what loot you want to bring in. If you die or leave the game you lose everything you brought in with you. When the season ends all accounts are wiped and you start fresh.
@GRUNTZ03@PaulTassi Doesn't mean much as most people can't get access to the game. You're only option is to watch it. Secondly it's a new game that literally just became available to the public so of course there will be some interest.
Any clarification on whether discord overlay is allowed? Discord recently had an update which added the overlay automatically. I know it was never allowed in the past and was blocked on Bungie's end. I would really like to use it of course. @A_dmg04@Destiny2Team@BrunoLouviers
@PaulTassi@elonisfagg0t@Cyn1kal Cbro is the one that runs this twitch live stream with player numbers and he told me how it works. It counts where you account was CREATED, not where you are. I made my account on Xbox 7 years ago, but I am now on Pc, so I count for Xbox. Same with Stadia.
@All_The_Players@UhhDac I know the queenbreaker stuns unstops but the original tweet image doesnt make sense. The queenbreaker won't generate any traces really because all the tanky stuff you shoot at like champs, bosses, etc can't be blinded
