No AI. 100% of the blame for this is on my shoulders.

@SCShipyards definitely a LOT less payout than the previous system (this is the first cycle I cleared enough to get paid) but it still pays for itself then some.

Still have the scars to prove it.

I don’t want to hear it. When I was a child they were still using 8-tracks.

Dear Facebook, Two questions.

1) Why did you send me this ad?

and

2) How much?

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

As a United States Marine, this is practically blasphemy. What that statue represents is holy to us.

Why do we let people live amongst us who hate everything we stand for like this?

@Nymdok But the crust of a pot pie is the best part!

Looks good, really. Might try this myself.

Yup, she loves the field. She started this at 18. At 18 I had no idea what I wanted for lunch much less knowing what I wanted to do with my life, but she's blessed that she found her career right out of the gate.

Plus, she gets to drive a hearse from time to time.

Youngest got to drive the hearse today

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

Kind of reminds me of the story of my youngest.

She was on campus, a cute guy started chatting her up. He asked "So, what are you studying?"

"Mortuary science."

[Blank stare] : "Nope, can't handle that," and walked away.

We can laugh now but I know it hurt her at the time.

I saw Gelatinous Cylinder of Tart Blasphemy open for Marylin Manson back in 05.

That said, Chicken-milk is disgusting but cranberry jelly from the can is amazing as is Aunt Thelma's Handmade Cranberry-Orange-Lime jelly. It's all good.

[David Badurina - XXXII @DavidBadurina]

This reprehensible slab of cran-jelly is grotesque in every form.

Cranberry sauce should be made from a few handfuls of actual cranberries. Yes, I'm a purist. Yes, this is disgusting. I don't want to hear any of you grotesque troglodytes bad-mouthing Chicken Milk if you consume this gelatinous cylinder of tart blasphemy.

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

Nope.

One More Minute is the best Weird Al song and I will brook no dissent on this verifiably obvious fact.

[Zachary Ruhl @zjruhl]

Weird Al is 67 and still has more range than half the Grammy nominees.

Dude's been a cartoon villain, a talking dog, and the only accordion player anybody's ever listened to on purpose.

Settle this: best Weird Al song, Amish Paradise or White & Nerdy?

@RocketPulpHack I keep meaning to add this book to the looooooong line of "Man, I keep meaning to read this book" list.

@SenseiOfSarcasm Success with one child, not so much with the other.

I did try though.

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

You know, I never did send that chain letter to 10 of my closest friends.

Looking at the current state of affairs and thinking about what that letter said would happen if I didn't send it... this may have been my fault.

So, we're at an impasse then, sorry. You're stuck on 1,2,3,4,5,6 (or 3,4,2,6,1,5, doesn't matter the order) is somehow less random than any other block of numbers as if closing your eyes & pulling the balls from the bag somehow is magically powered by the numbers within.

Mathematics in this regard *is* reality and I can't help you understand them.

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

Just your regular reminder that the numbers

1,2,3,4,5 and 6

have the exact same chance at being chosen for the winning lottery numbers as any other combination.

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

@RichAndPowe7ful Not AI, just math.

Is my math wrong?

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

Yes I do. But I'm arguing with math and I'm honestly trying to do it in good faith.

If you'd like we can break it down step by step and you can show me where the math is wrong.

The statement "Every combination has exactly 1 in 13,983,816 odds of winning" is a fact using the image attached as the formula (I can't get twitter to format it)

Where:
- n = total number of available items (49)
- r = number of items we're choosing (6)
- ! = factorial, meaning multiply a number by every positive integer below it.

This is combinations not permutations as 6,3,4,1,2 is considered the same as 1,2,3,4,5,6 since order does not matter in the lottery.

Do you agree with this math? If so, we can continue, if not, then we're at an impasse.

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

I do and that's why I disagree.

I have the math right here. Every combination has the same chance as any other combination.

Again, remove the numbers. Paint little shapes on the balls instead. Things that can't be organized or ordered.

Now, why would the 3 squiggly lines be harder to pick than the dot with a triangle?

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

@RichAndPowe7ful I need to amend my last statement because I like to be accurate. I should have said A♥K♥Q♥J♥10♥ has the exact same statistical chance, not just any royal flush.

Because if you ignore the suits, then a RF has 4x the chance of being picked than my random example.

[Robb Allen @ItsRobbAllen]

Poker, with numbers and suits along with decisions, is not lottery which is just numbers picked at random. They're not the same thing.

You're acting under the idea that somehow, what is written on a random ping-pong ball tumbling around in a machine has any bearing on if that ball will be picked or not.

If there are 49 balls, the first ball to be chosen has a 1:49 chance of being picked. The 2nd ball has a 1:48 chance. The next ball to be chosen does not depend on the ball chosen before it.

Thus, picking 1 the first time does not make 2 harder to choose.

Heck, another way to think about it, numerically - with 49 balls, there are 13,983,816 possible combinations (discarding order). So instead of balls, you print out all 13,983,816 combinations.

Why would 1,2,3,4,5,6 be harder to pick than 6,18,34,37, 41, 49?

Back to poker - the hand you get dealt first has the EXACT same statistical pressure applied. A royal flush has the exact same chance of being dealt as 4♣, 2♦, K♥ 8♠ 7♣. There are 2,598,960 different combinations of hands. This has NOTHING to do with how we group hands, which has a different probability and what makes poker a different game than the lottery.
