At Vantara, I saw an elephant which was the victim of an acid attack. The elephant was being treated with utmost care. There were other elephants too, which were blinded and that too ironically by their Mahout. Another elephant was hit by a speeding truck. This underscores an important question - how can people be so careless and cruel? Let us put an end to such irresponsibility and focus on kindness towards animals.

Nine years ago, I was in college, and there was a couple in their third year. The girl was in the college band and a great singer, while I used to organize cultural events, so we became mutuals. The guy was from my native state, which made him a mutual connection too.

During one semester break, we all went home, and one day, we received the heartbreaking news that the guy had been in a major accident and passed away on the spot. It was a tragic moment for all of us. I remember seeing the girl completely shattered. But life moved on, we graduated, got jobs, and moved to different cities.

She worked for a few years and then moved to the U.S. for higher studies, though we stayed connected on Instagram. Yesterday, I saw she had shared a almost decade-old picture of them sitting in the college cafeteria, wishing him a happy birthday. Almost a decade has passed, yet some voids never truly fade, and some people remain a part of our lives in ways we don’t often see anymore, especially in this generation.
