Democrats should continue their assault on Elon Musk. Trump’s team sees it and likely loves it. I doubt it actually bothers Trump when it’s clear the strategy is to try to drive a wedge between Musk and Trump. Instead the message is Democrats view Musk as a threat, push harder.
@WMUR9 You should check out the Reed v Gilbert decision. The RSA is unconstitutional. It is content-based and must be updated as it can’t be enforced without reading the sign. It was simply left on the books likely for this reason as people think they have to follow it
@swedishfriend @PaulWoods007 @elonmusk The bigger issue is land. Immigrants tend to seek out cities for the support services they can offer. Best most cities can do is knock down existing housing and build more densely. Suburbs are often restrictive with building. We could end up with higher prices and lower wages.
@Jeremy_Heya @ConynghamWill @FrankMikeDavis1 @StephenKing It’s doubtful the military would squash the people. The military would likely be significantly outnumbered and surrounded by the militia from the beginning. The chance of the People winning is far from 0 and that is enough reason not to give up constitutional rights.
If Republicans pick up 4 senate seats in 2022, they’ll be at 54. Democrats have to defend 23 seats in 2024, opening the door for Republicans to get to 60 in the senate. Democrats’ policies created the potential for a filibuster proof majority. They need to pivot now.
@Inkling61@SharpePhillip@RepJeffries The average cannot be the minimum unless everyone was paid the minimum. This is flawed logic. The average wage will always exceed minimum wage.
@biggestgenius@chrislhayes It’s a pressure campaign. They would rather act like it’s a done deal than leave the door open for her to walk out. She has to open the door and leave now.
People telling secondhand stories under oath is kind of meaningless. She has nothing to fear if the story is debunked. She didn’t say it happened. She said she heard it happened. We do not know what actually happened despite oaths being taken. It adds no real credibility here
Biden should not endorse or talk about a gas tax holiday. He can’t deliver. It only hurts him and Dems to discuss it as they could pass it with 50 votes through reconciliation. They have the power but aren’t going to use it.
The sad part is the war on fossil fuels is mostly smoke and mirrors at this point. It has had little impact other than making it seem like Biden is to blame now. He was dealt a bad hand but also played it poorly
Jim Jordan is kind of right on real America. People are more threatened by high gas prices that are actually happening than worried about what could have happened on Jan 6th. They woke up on Jan 7th and things were fine. When they wake up tomorrow gas prices will still hurt
Americans have developed a victim mentality towards everything so it’s no surprise they blame those in power for gas prices. They need to blame someone. Biden may be helpless to lower prices but he’s not blameless. Waging war on fossil fuels always had the potential to backfire.
This does not mean those that stormed the Capitol on Jan 6th weren’t wrong or that it wasn’t an insurrection, simply blame often gets pinned on those that react or fail to react to those that instigated the initial conflict
Changing the filibuster to reform firearm laws is pretty short sighted unless you’re ok with what the other party is going to do when it’s their turn. Think 50 state permit less concealed carry and an inability for states to ban assault weapons. They’d love to pass it all.
Schumer needs to take a page out of Pelosi’s book and stop these show votes. We know where the senators stand. He just puts his inability to lead on the record time and time again.
@IMHOjustsaying It’s not about banning books, it’s about feeling they have a say in their children’s education. That is what resonates with people who don’t even want to ban anything. If they don’t FEEL they have a say (even if they do) it’s an issue for them that will impact how they vote.
