For those who have no idea about the actual, cold human cost of patriotism - Let's look at what unmitigated psychological ruin looks like. Let's look at the structural wreckage of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s life in 1909:

1) The Human Loss: While stuck in exile in London, a letter arrives. His firstborn son, Prabhakar, just four years old, is dead from smallpox. Savarkar hasn't held his son since the child was a toddler. He is forced to process this completely alone in a foreign land.

2) The Domestic Annihilation: Simultaneously, the British regime strikes with absolute malice. They arrest his elder brother, Baburao, and seize every single piece of family property. His wife, Mai, is left completely homeless, wandering the streets, forced to bury their toddler in total isolation and absolute poverty.

3)The Soul Crushing Gridlock: Every basic human instinct screams at a father to drop everything and rush home to hold his grieving wife. But as a marked revolutionary, stepping on a ship back to India meant instant arrest and the death of the movement. He is forced into absolute, paralysed helplessness, watching his family’s world burn from a distant land which was actually the cause for his anguish.

On December 10, 1909, crushed by the weight of this raw grief, Savarkar goes down to the beach at Brighton.

Picture the scene coldly: An exiled young man standing by a freezing, gray winter sea. The ocean before him isn't just a body of water it is a literal, physical wall separating him from his homeless wife, the fresh corpse of his four-year-old child, and his enslaved motherland.

Drowning in tears, he pours this bleeding anguish into the wind, composing the immortal verses of "Ne Majasi Ne Parata Matrubhumila" (Sagara Pran Talamalala).

When he begs the ocean to carry him back to Bharat Mata because his soul is suffocating, it wasn't a polished PR exercise. It wasn't a curated photo-op designed to build a political legacy for his grandchildren. It was the raw, bleeding cry of a father and a patriot whose soul was being crushed by the ultimate cost of duty.

So watching these idiots say “bande mein tha darr, doesn’t make me angry, it makes me look at these losers with a sense of pity !
