Brazilian Arsenal (Gabriel/Martinelli) v Norwegian Arsenal (Odegaard) tonight, and my money’s on the two Gabis to prevail over their club captain.
Brazil remain my tip to win the World Cup.
South Africa got two red cards during the opening match. A player had to miss three matches. US player who got a red card and was supposed to serve suspension is given another chance. This is bad @FIFAcom . No shame. Former @FIFAcom@SeppBlatter is vindicated. @FIFAWorldCup@BafanaBafana@CAF_Online
The Viking king has done it again. He has scored the goals that knocked out one of my favourite teams, Brazil.
Congratulations to Norway. Their victory is yet another reminder that world football has changed dramatically. The days when Brazil dominated the game and opponents feared them before a ball was even kicked are long gone. Football evolves, and new powers emerge.
As a lifelong admirer of Brazil, I am disappointed to see them bow out. But that is the beauty of football. Yesterday’s giants must constantly reinvent themselves, because history alone does not win matches.
I am sad to see Brazil go, but full credit to Norway for a deserved victory.
I’d never heard of Cape Verde before this World Cup, now I will never forget them. Congrats to the whole squad, and especially the 40yr-old goalkeeper @vozinhapr whose heroics earned him 20m followers on Instagram. Fabulous story. 👏👏
