@alexsdailyhisto@pditomm (2)In the US, you can apply to register when getting your driver's license, and citizenship isn't always verified through documents. In Canada, Elections Canada uses tax returns and immigration records to help verify voter eligibility. That's the difference I'm talking about.
@alexsdailyhisto@pditomm (1)I agree that showing ID to vote isn't a big deal. It's already required in my state. But that's not the issue. The issue is requiring additional proof of citizenship, because even a driver's license or REAL ID doesn't necessarily prove you're a citizen.
@CDeryXIX You have every right to support sovereignty, but let's stick to facts. Quebec already controls housing and most language policies, has unique powers to select economic immigrants, and never consented to the 1982 Constitution. Ottawa doesn't make all these decisions without Quebec
@BobMurrayqr@mark_slapinski OECD data: US 29.9% vs Canada 31.9%.
"Way lower" is a myth.
You can cherry-pick low-tax states, but that doesn’t represent the average...and often comes with lower wages and higher out-of-pocket costs like healthcare.
Be realistic, not selective.
