This month, the @JEP_Colombia issued a ruling charging six former members of the FARC-EP Secretariat of the war crimes of recruitment and use of #children and other associated crimes. JRR welcomes this decision and was proud to support the JEP with legal & psychosocial expertise.
JRR is pleased to announce it is currently preparing a new documentary film to be released in 2025 on the #TJ process in The #Gambia 🇬🇲. This documentary will be an opportunity to meet survivors of the 22-year long dictatorship & understand their needs in terms of #justice.
JRR has been supporting justice & accountability efforts in The Gambia since 2018 and will continue doing so by promoting the rights and access to justice of all Gambian #survivors.
This led the JEP to conclude that other crimes amounting to #persecution against indigenous groups have been committed. The JEP could further decide on #sanctions that were satisfactory for survivors. Read more on this case: 👇👇

⚖ In Oct, the Section of @JEP_Colombia issued its 1st decision in macro-case 3, which addresses the 6,402 cases of civilians killed & falsely presented as members of armed groups. This confirms the charges against former military officers for crimes against #indigenous groups.
JRR has deployed #Psychosocial Support expertise to work with the JEP in developing a methodology on best ways to engage with #victims in a trauma-informed approach. As a result, the JEP broadened its understanding of the crimes committed against victims.
We are looking forward to exploring best approaches to facilitate its implementation and remain committed to mainstreaming a #victim-centred approach into actionable guidelines to help promote the rights and access to justice of victims and #survivors.

Thomas Kwoyelo, Ugandan Lord’s Resistance Army's ex-commander, was recently sentenced to a 40-year jail term for having committed international crimes, incl. war crimes and crimes against humanity, during the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency against the Government of #Uganda.
