A Ukrainian drone strike sends the roof of a Moscow oil refinery's storage tank flying through the air — apparently still intact despite the massive explosion.
Mayor Sergei Sobyanin says Ukrainian drones reached the southeast Moscow site during what he called a "massive attack."
Zelenskyy called the refinery strike "fully justified," saying Ukraine is targeting facilities that help fuel Russia's war machine.
Russia routinely launches ballistic missiles at residential buildings in the middle of the night to kill Ukrainians sleeping in their beds. In contrast, Ukraine drones strike Russian refineries, oil terminals, and other key elements of Putin's war economy
A Russian soldier kept Sofia, Ukrainian, for over a year as a sex prisoner — holding her in a flat with bars on the balcony, boarded-up windows, locked doors, and padlocks.
He took her phone, left food, and returned there only to rape her — The Times. 1/
USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.
Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.
I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."
"They just come with the table, man."
They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.
This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.
I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.
"Did we…?"
"Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."
Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined.
My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."
Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.
I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.
Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.
I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.
Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
“Ukrainian forces have liberated more territory than Russian forces seized in April and May 2026, highlighting Russia’s dwindling battlefield performance and Ukraine’s successes in halting the Russian Spring-Summer 2026 offensive.”
It is time to end this war. But Russia’s ruler wants to keep fighting. That is why Ukrainian sanctions against this aggression are working. Last night, our drones covered a distance of about 1,000 kilometers to the St. Petersburg region – to the enemy navy’s arsenals and a base in Kronstadt. Our long-range sanctions also reached about 500 kilometers into the Krasnodar region – and hit an oil depot. These are important results of the joint efforts by warriors from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. Russia must end its war and stop its attacks on life. Any manifestation of injustice against Ukraine will receive a just response. I thank our warriors for their precision.
HODGES: For Russia, it's absolutely humiliating, for their military and government, that Ukrainian drones flying almost uninterrupted through Russian airspace to hit targets deep inside Russia.
The ones that hit St. Petersburg traveled about 5 hours through Russian airspace. How embarrassing that Russians couldn't identify it, track it, or knock it down somewhere along the way.
I think Russians will continue doing the only thing they can do, which is to hit civilian targets. They're not gaining anything on the ground. The great Black Sea Fleet is no longer a factor, and they can't seem to stop Ukrainian attacks of different types.
The one thing that Ukrainians have not been able to completely stop, for now, is Russian missile attacks against Ukrainian civilian targets.
And what utter nonsense when Kremlin talks about how they have to retaliate somehow, or that somehow Ukraine is the aggressor.
When this war is over, and Ukraine is victorious and whole again, and every innocent victim, every fallen defender, every destroyed city and town is documented, let no one say they did not know. These Russian crimes against humanity are happening in full view in real time.
A Kherson resident I know shared this photo: "Artillery just hit our neighborhood. One shell hit a playground.
A family I knew well was there. The father of four was killed. The mother and youngest daughter are hospitalized, in critical condition."
Russians do this. Every day.
