CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO ALL MEDICAL INTERNS ON THEIR POSTING
Congratulations to all medical interns across all cadres on your official posting for internship as directed by the Ministry of Health. This marks the beginning of one of the most important phases of your professional journeyโa period where classroom knowledge is transformed into practical competence through supervised clinical practice.
As you report to your respective internship stations, embrace every opportunity to learn. Be disciplined, humble, and eager to acquire new knowledge and skills from your supervisors and colleagues. Internship is not merely a requirement for registration; it is a unique opportunity to build confidence, professionalism, ethical values, and clinical competence that will define the healthcare professionals you become.
Always remember that patients entrust you with their lives and wellbeing. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, compassion, confidentiality, and patient-centered care. Treat every patient with dignity and respect regardless of their background, and strive to provide safe, evidence-based, and quality healthcare services at all times.
As you receive your monthly stipend, exercise financial discipline. Avoid unnecessary expenditure and instead consider saving and investing part of your income. Build healthy financial habits early in your career because the healthcare job market remains highly competitive, and employment opportunities after internship may not come immediately. Wise financial decisions today will provide stability and create opportunities for your future.
Most importantly, ensure that by the end of your internship you have acquired the competence expected of a licensed healthcare professional. Seek mentorship, ask questions, learn from every clinical encounter, refine your practical skills, and never stop improving yourself. Your goal should be to complete internship as a confident, competent, and compassionate practitioner capable of serving the public with excellence.
As you begin this important journey, I wish each one of you success, resilience, good health, and God's guidance. May this internship shape you into professionals who will uphold the dignity of the medical profession and make meaningful contributions to improving healthcare in our nation.
Congratulations once again, and may this be the beginning of a fulfilling career and a bright future ahead.
Best wishes to all medical interns. The future of healthcare is in your hands.
The systemic delays and uncertainty that doctors endured in 2024 to secure CBA-guaranteed internship postings and salaries are now behind us. Through sustained collective advocacy, these long-standing challenges have been resolved.
The Ministry of Health has officially confirmed that the 2026/2027 cohort will commence internship on 1 July 2026, with seamless placement and timely payment of salaries. Incoming pre-interns are expected to collect their offer letters during the official flag-off ceremony on Monday, 29 June 2026.
This milestone reflects the impact of strategic engagement, collective bargaining, and the unwavering resolve of doctors who stood together against institutional injustice. It belongs to every doctor who marched, negotiated, and remained steadfast in defending the profession.
Congratulations and welcome to the 2026/2027 internship cohort. You begin your journey on a stronger foundation because those before you stood united. Unity resolves today's challenges and safeguards the future of the profession.
