One thing many people outside Cyprus donโt realize:
The TRNC created the Immovable Property Commission (IPC) specifically to compensate Greek Cypriots for properties lost after 1974. The IPC was recognized by the European Court of Human Rights as a valid legal remedy, and it has already paid out hundreds of millions in compensation to Greek Cypriot claimants. As of 2026, the amount awarded exceeds ยฃ660 million.
Meanwhile, there is no equivalent mechanism in the Republic of Cyprus for Turkish Cypriots who lost property in the south. No compensation fund. No structured process. In many cases, those properties are simply gone forever.
You can disagree politically with the TRNC all you want. But objectively, one side created a compensation system and actively pays claims. The other side never created a comparable path for Turkish Cypriots.
And yet, you rarely hear Turkish Cypriot stories internationally. Their losses, displacement and property claims are almost never part of the conversation. Most international coverage repeats only the Greek Cypriot narrative, while Turkish Cypriot perspectives are largely ignored.
So whenever you see another article about this topic, ask them: what about the Turkish Cypriot lands? Havenโt they lost property as well? Were they fairly compensated before airports, roads and entire developments were built on those lands?
@honeyNonABG I do 10-3.5/4-15 after every workout. I don't even feel anything if I'm being honest. Just boredom ๐ I will try 12-3/3.5-20 next. But damn it's boring.
@aruvinchan That's why as an European I can't relate to most American dating takes. What do you mean women care about your height or are trying to baby/marriage trap you? We're normal. And we're earning mostly the same as men. We don't care about your salary that's as high as ours here ๐
@aruvinchan I have lived in several countries and have always been broke actually ๐ Only in the last few years have I finally built my income. My last move to the unrecognised (!!!) country was with 2k euros a month income ๐ Mind you, I also had a child. And we fucking made it! ๐ช๐ผ
@alwaysintrepid@aruvinchan Privilege is the wrong word here. Privilege would be height, rich parents, or other things you can't just get. Everyone CAN find a remote job or build their own remote income. Therefore it's not a privilege.
@Khantomm@ThatchEffendi ๐๐๐ what's allowed? To be Lithuanian or to live in TRNC? There are thousands of Lithuanians, Russians, Brits and Germans living here. Why wouldn't it be allowed? ๐ The expat community here is so big that we have more expats than locals. Life is great.
@Linguini_Lord@aruvinchan Yeah okay. Whatever. Most men want stable beautiful families not "running a game". Games are lame and most people know it intuitively.
@melibiose3@efoliskii@ThatchEffendi As if the UAE doesn't have an authoritarian government ๐ UAE and other ME countries have way harsher governments and even that doesn't scare me. Tรผrkiye has culture, soul and it's an amazing country to live in. As a woman or as a family.
