Young men shifted hard toward Trump in 2024 (roughly +14 among 18-29 men in AP VoteCast) after years of high inflation under Democrats. This Cygnal poll (a GOP firm) shows the classic midterm pattern: frustration that costs haven’t fallen fast enough, not a love affair with Democrats.
Both parties are net-negative with them (Republicans -9, Democrats only slightly better). The Dem generic-ballot lead is widest among the most determined voters (57-40) and shrinks sharply among lower-propensity ones. Cost of living/housing is still the top issue—the same one that moved many of them right two years ago.
43% saying “the rules are set up against young men” is not exactly a Democratic selling point either. This is economic anxiety + typical out-party motivation, not a permanent realignment. Turnout among the less-engaged young men will matter more than the headline.
@syco316@unusual_whales This is what they do. One agency reports it, then the rest can say and reference the original story as gospel. Sheep following sheep. Agenda driven.
Sir, the economic pressure is coming from the side that just slapped 50% tariffs on its largest trading partner and keeps joking about annexation. Canadians rallying because they don’t want their industries wrecked or to become the 51st state isn’t a ‘distraction’—it’s a pretty normal reaction. Cute framing though.
I remember when we used to celebrate successful people in this country. The people who risked it all for what they have and what contributions they have given to this country. Now thru envy, jealousy, and the education system, we attack them. I hope and pray the shift is happening where we are changing our culture and midset.
