If I’m the #mnwild GM (and for the record, I’m not) I think the next play is this: Offer Hughes the same contract — 8 years at $20.4m) right now. If Quinn insists on three years, max, offer $17m per year. Make longevity worth it.
I LOVE the Makar deal.
One of the things that happened in the NHL after the
PA caved to a cap in ‘05 was players seemed to think it was their job to manage it. Or perhaps they got convinced that they should.
A player is not a GM, it’s not his job to manage the cap.
Outside of the great state of Massachusetts, did anybody ask for 20 Bruins games on national TV? Just a question. 18 Rangers games too...
Feel like THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPION Carolina Hurricanes deserved a few more haha.
Same with San Jose and Utah, they're gonna be so fun

Concern level on no Quinn Hughes ext: 3/10
Guerin & the Wild went thru the exact same thing last season with Kirill Kaprizov.
Kaprizov didn’t sign his extension until September 30th last season. I trust in Guerin. Still very confident a deal gets done before regular season.
Michael Russo: Re Quinn Hughes/Wild negotiations: I think the reason why we're all expecting him to sign...he realises the amount of assets the Wild gave up for him, and I think...there's a feeling from his side that he deserves to pay that back to the Wild - The Sheet (8/11)
____
NHLRR: This sentiment has been out there since the trade with Vancouver; Hughes also has a close relationship with Guerin through USA Hockey
Closing out the NHL position’s rankings:
Here are my top Centers, Left Wings, Right Wings & Defensemen in the NHL heading into the 2026-27 season. #NHL
Austin would benefit HUGELY. It’d be the only pro team in town. Would capture the market like Vegas.
Team Austin.
The Youth hockey in Texas has grown immensely and Austin is a young live crowd.
The NHL could announce its 33rd expansion team in either Houston or Austin by the end of the year, deputy commissioner Bill Daly told @reporterchris and @TheAthletic.
Daly also adds that the league is having "ongoing discussions" with representatives from both Phoenix and Atlanta regarding a possible 34th expansion team.
Matthew Schaefer rated higher than Lane Hutson is insane.
No shade at Schaef daddy either. I’m as big of a believer in him as anyone but Hutson not only had 19 more points this season, but also had 7 more points than Schaefer in his own Calder Trophy winning szn last year 🤣
Hockey’s defensive and goaltending elite 🛡️
95 OVR for Makar, Werenski and Hughes.
94 OVR for Vasilevskiy between the pipes 🥅
