Internal medicine (IMT) now requires 22/30 points on the portfolio score to guarantee an interview (if applying to other specialties).

How is an F2 doctor supposed to have a portfolio of this standard? Essentially locked out of direct career progression in a medical specialty.

A 70 hour week isn't common, but then neither is a 30 hour week. They get paid the same for both and it all averages out at a 48 hour full time week

But equally they can't choose to work less without going part time and can only take holiday on 8 hour days, so limited as to when and how long they can take leave.

@abundance202 @Hughristics @howmanytraits @danrhuss @afneil And even then it's not as simple as time and a half. It varies, so if you work one weekend in 8 you may get a 3% uplift raising to 15% if you work 1 in 2 weekends

@highpeakchris @10DowningStreet Bizarrely F1 doctors can't just book a days holiday when they want. Often holiday can only be booked if they aren't on long days or nights and only if there are enough other staff on. It's pretty hard to get a whole week off at once.
