@archiecurium@lightfootsj@BJAJournals Variable throughout the literature though!
I made this chart for journal club yet forgot to include the Crimmins study.
They got ~ 1 in 59835. Roughly the same as NAP6 in 2016.
I worry rates have increased since, and am not particularly reassured by this study…
@StevenMAlderson @GongGasGirl Don’t quite understand the rationale here: can you help?
Et[AA] as a surrogate of PA[AA] confirms anaesthetic delivery, but age-adj-MAC as a predictor of unawareness is famously imprecise for an individual.
Surely the problem of “does this number mean unaware for my pt” remains?
How many capnography variants do you encounter every day?
We show worrying variation across the UK, between and within hospitals, with at least 36 variants in use. This has a big impact on patient safety. We should urgently implement the SALG standard.

The Safe Anaesthesia Liaison Group recommends standardising waveform capnography as a white solid filled-in graph at the bottom of the monitor display.
Is there compliance with the SALG standard in the UK?

• What local anaesthetic do you use?
• What concentration?
• What volume?
Findlay et al did a survey!
Check out the answers from 134 UK-based anaesthetists.
Are you surprised by any of the responses?

@CaitlinBrenna16 RIE doesn't have any warming specific guidance as far as I can tell, but anecdotally practice is largely in keeping with NICE CG65 and the good (if a bit anaesthetic-y) article here https://t.co/2wZiWkXvEd
Have been told that lo-flow hi-temp is most eco choice. No idea if true!
We talk a lot about inability to intubate, but what if you can't EXtubate!?
You'll likely need a multi-disciplinary team to work through this one!

@AnaestheticsApp Ideally there'd be a way of accessing the logbook's data automatically within the R code.
Downloading the xlsx file each time is a bit clunky.
I don't know if that is possible (or whether I am computer literate enough to make it work!)
Thanks for all your work on this Simon!
@AnaestheticsApp Existing pdf report is good but busy.
I've been trying to make a reproducible report (i.e. customisable pdf via RMarkdown for upload ahead of ARCP) from the xlsx download - but that doesn't contain the hospital/location field.
Is there a way of downloading all data?

@thomaswoodcock Trying to get my head around this - sorry if basic… is it the test of difference misleading because clinicians would use “one bottle” as a unit of treatment (titrated to given endpoint), rather than the volume?
Should trials like this be based on “n boluses”rather than volumes?
@ali1m CO2 alarm on some laboratory incubator had the same pitch and pattern as a TOFscan today. Yet another manufacturer in the pocket of Big Rocuronium…
