🚨Thierry Henry on Portugal’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup:
🗣️ “I’m going to say something that a lot of Portuguese supporters probably don’t want to hear.
This Portugal team has massively underperformed.
Not because they lacked talent, but because too many of their biggest players never reached the level everyone expected.
Bruno Fernandes has been dreadful by his own standards throughout this World Cup. The creativity, the leadership, the decisive moments we’ve seen for years simply weren’t there. Then you look at Vitinha and João Neves—fresh from winning the Champions League with PSG. Two midfielders who dominated Europe. Yet in this tournament, they’ve been almost invisible. Missing in action when Portugal needed control, composure and personality.
And then there is Cristiano Ronaldo.
People will blame him because that’s the easy thing to do.
I won’t.
Because if you decide to start Cristiano, then you have to build situations that suit him. Instead, Portugal kept circulating possession without purpose. They had one of the greatest penalty-box finishers football has ever seen, yet they hardly gave him the service he lives on. That’s not on Ronaldo. That’s on the team around him.
Spain deserve enormous credit.
They played with a clear identity from the first minute until the last. Every player knew his role. Every movement had purpose. Portugal, on the other hand, looked like eleven talented footballers trying to solve the game individually rather than collectively.
That’s why Spain are still in this World Cup.
And that’s why Portugal are going home.
Not because they had worse players…
But because they never played like a better team.”
MESSI, PLANIFICACIÓN Y EJECUCIÓN.
Video en tiempo real de 2 minutos.
1. Comienza dándole indicaciones a Lisandro Martínez.

Phase Change Energy
It is intuitive that you have to put energy into water to warm it up, and you have to put energy into ice to warm it up, and you have to put energy into steam to heat it up.
But what isn’t so intuitive is that you have to put a lot of energy into ice that is -0.1°C to turn it into water that is +0.1°C, and you have to put an enormous amount of energy into water at 99.9°C to turn it into steam at 100.1°C.
This is why we put ice in drinks, ice will absorb a lot of energy before the temperature rises and this is why it keeps your drink cold.
It takes the same amount of energy to turn ice from -0.1°C to water at 0.1°C as it takes to get from 0.1°C to 81°C.
Evaporation (or boiling) is even more extreme.
It takes the same amount of energy to turn water into steam as it would take to raise the temperature by 595°C (if that were possible).
This is why you can boil a pan of water and it will stay at exactly 100°C and will keep most of its mass as water (not steam), long enough to boil some food. A large amount of energy is all going into evaporating some tiny mass of water.
Also, ice heats up faster than steam, and steam heats up faster than water.
H2O is weird stuff.
These two big flat spots in the thermophysical properties of H2O are what keep our planet locked in such a stable thermodynamic regime long enough (4.5 billion years), for complex life to emerge.
If either of these flat spots were a lot less wide, we wouldn’t be here today.
God made beautiful women and he knew exactly what he was doing. he put the finest work into the most temporal thing, a face that will wrinkle, hands that will spot, a body that will soften and bent, and still he lavished upon her such absurd delicate attention, the way her lashes fall, the gentle architecture of her collarbones, that one specific way light sits on her throat in late afternoon. these are a decision made by someone who wanted us to momentarily forget what we are and where we are and have us just stop and look and feel something small and unbearable
